I'm a biologist very interested in genetics and bioinformatics applications. I have a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology and I got my Specialization in Medical Genetics in May 2023. During my residency I've been working at the Department of Medical Genetics of the Università degli studi della Caampania "Luigi Vanvitelli" in Naples. I'm familiar with different genetic laboratory techniques, such as Sanger sequencing, MLPA, aCGH, but my main focus was on NGS. I’ve performed NGS library preparation, both manually or with automated platforms and I’ve become competent in NGS data analysis using different bioinformatic tools and variant interpretation. I also had experience in writing reports and communicating with physicians about the findings. I've been part of several research projects, such as the Italian Telethon Undiagnosed Disease Project, where my role was to analyze WES data from unsolved paediatric cases, looking also for new disease-associated genes.

Medical Geneticist - BiologistAou Vanvitelli Aug 2023 - PresentNapoliI'm involved in a PNRR project to investigate the genetic cause undelying severe and complex pediatric diseases coming from the Telethon Undiagnosed Program and to develop a standardized model for the diagnosis and management of unsolved cases. My role is to use and improve the sequential use of NGS data analysis tools aimed at a standardization and optimization of the different genomic tests. -
Research CollaboratorFondazione Telethon Jul 2021 - Jul 2023Pozzuoli, Campania, ItaliaIn prof. Nigro's lab I contributed to the investigation of NGS data from patients affected by severe undiagnosed pediatric diseases coming from the Telethon Undiagnosed Program. We performed Whole Exome Sequencing, RNA-Seq, designed a very high resolution array, all aiming to achieve a molecular diagnosis ending the diagnostic odyssey that many patients suffer. -
Guest ResearcherRadboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen, The Netherlands Nov 2022 - May 2023Nimega, Gheldria, Paesi BassiI performed Whole Genome Sequencing data analysis on unsolved patients with Inherited Retinal Disease. I was able to expand my skills of NGS data analysis using different genomic analysis tools. -
Specialization In Medical GeneticsUniversità Degli Studi Della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli Jun 2019 - May 2023Napoli, ItaliaIn prof. Nigro medical genetics laboratory we used different genomic tests to reach molecular diagnosis of complex paediatric conditions. In particular, we performed Whole Exome Sequencing and I gained experience in NGS data analysis and rare variants interpretation. Moreover, I was able to use R scripting combining bioinformatics with biological knowledge. -
Bioinformatics Research FellowUniversità Degli Studi Del Sannio-Benevento Feb 2019 - Nov 2019Ariano IrpinoWe performed NGS data analysis, tumour-specific neoantigen prediction and correlation with clinical data. -
Internship Student In BioinformaticsBiogem Istituto Di Ricerche Genetiche "Gaetano Salvatore" Jan 2018 - Oct 2018Ariano IrpinoIn prof. M. Ceccarelli’s Bioinformatics laboratory I had the chance to work also with ph.D researcher from the New York Columbia University and with the prof. L. Buonaguro, head of Cancer Immunomodulation Unit Cancer National Institute "Pascale". For my thesis we developed a bioinformatics pipeline to investigate in a larger perspective the neoantigen landscape of different types of tumour. We collected pan-cancer whole exome sequencing data from TCGA and and performed a binding affinity prediction analysis with NetMHC in batch mode with custom scripts. We performed correlation and survival analysis to clarify the role of neoantigens in the tumour evolution. We performed enrichment analysis, method mww-gst, to analyse the correlation between different immune gene signatures and the neoantigen load. -
Internship Student In Clinical Molecular BiologyUniversity Of Naples Federico Ii Mar 2016 - Jun 2016Napoli, ItaliaDuring my undergraduate thesis I joined prof. Gabriella Esposito's laboratory of Clinical molecular biology. Argument of my thesis was the role of Aldolase B enzyme in the Hereditary Fructose Intolerance. We built a plasmid construct that could lead to the expression of the enzyme fused to the Green fluorescent protein in eukaryotic cells (HEK293). We created the construct through molecular cloning and then investigated the Aldolase B expression with Western Blot and its intracellular localization with fluorescence microscopy.
