Publishing-Since December 2007, I have published "Straight Talk on Health Care", a monthly column about systemic health care issues. My first book, Unraveling U.S. Healthcare-A Personal Guide, was published by Rowman & Littlefield in 2013 and is a layperson's guide to the U.S. healthcare system with many statewide performance comparisons. Since 2014, I have been focusing on contract technical writing.ConsultingWith a solid understanding of corporate finance and experience with financial accounting programs for small businesses, both for-profit, 501C-3 and 501C-4, I also provide contract bookkeeping and accounting assistance.Having worked as a healthcare consultant since 2002, my projects have included: physician outreach and marketing, qualitative analysis of survey data for advocacy and strategic planning, development of pilot programs, evidence based planning initiatives, and policy analysis. As a refugee from the insurance business, I can quickly digest reams of arcane regulatory information and craft actionable whitepapers and compliance materials.The 2010 health care reforms have created three new mandates for health insurance compliance-quality measurement, evidence of wellness initiatives, and enhanced financial documentation and reporting. My company provides services to assist in the planning, program design, and measurement for these federal mandates.Specialties I specialize in process improvement and policy analysis to promote organizational change. My skills include qualitative and quantitative analysis to develop models to create interventions and measure performance. Finally, I am also good at finding money for clients through strategic planning support for fund raising campaigns as well as grant writing.
