My first foray into NGO work was with The SEA Institute where we focused on maintaining and increasing the marine biodiversity of the Verde Island Passage. The work was a combination of science, livelihood and education that was and is always bottom up in terms of needs and concerns. Currently, we teach locals to do reef assessments of their home reefs. We have also started to focus our marine camps towards senior high school students who are at the precipice of deciding what to specialize in once they enter university. With over 36,000 km of coastline plus 60% of our nation's population living by the sea, it is imperative that we support these communities through education and continuous livelihood initiatives.Prior to the work above, I have and continue to be involved in the fitness and wellness industry. I started out as an aerobics instructor and continue to teach yoga. I currently own and manage, along with other partners, a yoga school that we have had to take completely online since the onset of the pandemic. Yoga Manila has been around for 14 years now. We focus on Ashtanga Yoga.
