About Robert Gonzalez

A seasoned engineer and natural born leader, I have many years of organizational leadership experience across varying disciplines and contexts. At present I lead a worldwide organization of 50+ engineering staff across six different product specialties, and I am responsible for the development and delivery of products with annual revenue in excess of $80M. I lead front end, back end, platform, mobile, security, and performance engineering with a focus on reliability, quality, scalability, and maintainability.Driven by an undying curiosity and a desire to make an impact every day, I am always looking for ways to improve product and process, and I absolutely love interesting challenges, be they product, process or people related. I have the fortune of both working on, and leading, development efforts of frameworks, services, middleware, and applications. I've also developed a keen understanding of SDLC, Agile Development, Engineering management, organizational leadership, and product management. With a strong desire to continually make a difference both as a leader and a contributor, I am fortunate to not only be able to lead organizations but still offer technical expertise on the software my team builds. Making an impact is critical to me, and my professional interests reflect that. I am always open to new challenges and I bring a fresh perspective to the table, one that is people minded, success focused, and process driven. I’m certain I can still make a positive impact in any organization. For recruiters... I'm extremely spoiled at Sugar. Unless your opportunity appears immediately amazing I will likely hit you with some RIDICULOUS requirements before I open a conversation with you. That isn't to say I don't want to talk, just that recruiting me is going to be really, really tough. Are you prepared to see what I can do?

Listed skills include Apache, Mysql, Php, Jquery, and 30 others.

As a result I am able to put the core Engineering organization in a position to rapidly deliver new solutions for our cloud and on-premise customers.Applying a behavior driven approach to designing business solutions, I targeted the Customer Service industry in Sugar Serve, a product that set a new bar for how CS is represented in the CRM landscape, and positioned Sugar to take on the even larger market of Sales Force Automation. Leading Sugar Sell, we delivered easy-to-digest world-class seller solutions designed to make sales staff more efficient through automation, visualization, and targeted data delivery. With an emphasis on security and performance, we are building a scalable, highly available core platform upon which enterprise solutions can be built, supplying the needs of the entire core engineering organization, as well as partners, vendors, and integrators, with a platform that allows for limitless extendibility. And it doesn't stop there. Managing a global team of developers to align the Sugar Mobile product with solutions like Sugar Sell and Sugar Serve, we ensure continued delivery of a truly intuitive, elegant mobile product. Finally, as a leader of people I often assist with growth and development of personnel. One of my proudest accomplishments is the Junior Engineer and Engineering Intern programs at Sugar. I plan recruitment efforts and campus visits, and coordinate panel interviews of candidates. Lastly, I mentor less experienced talent and provide coaching to future leaders, empowering Sugar staff through compassionate leadership, trust, and respect.

As Senior Director of Engineering I lead the development efforts and product strategy of three of SugarCRM’s core products: Sugar Sell, Sugar Serve, and Sugar Mobile. In addition to influencing and guiding the success of Product, Process, and People at SugarCRM, I work to make our products more modular, less monolithic, and easier to develop on. I've worked on almost all areas of the SugarCRM platform and as a result I am able to put the Engineering organization in a position to rapidly deliver new solutions for both our cloud and on-premise customers.Taking a behavior driven approach to design solutions for businesses of all types, I led the effort targeted specifically at the Customer Service industry in Sugar Serve and released it in just six months.
