As Director of Engineering Applications I lead the development efforts on the core components of Sugar's various products. Working together with my peers from Intelligence, Platform, and Data, as well as with colleagues from Product Management, Support and Professional Services, I help influence and guide the direction of Product, Process, and People at SugarCRM.I currently lead several product initiatives to make Sugar more modular, less monolithic, and easier to develop on while delivering new products and continually meeting a more rapid cloud release cadence, getting new features and enhancements into the hands of our cloud customers quarterly. I've worked on almost all areas of the SugarCRM flagship product and, with a vast knowledge of the architecture of Sugar, am able to help numerous projects get to market faster.Building a great product requires great processes, and I work to improve process wherever improvements present themselves, be it automating manual tasks, improving workflows for individual contributors or encouraging collaboration among peers and colleagues. I currently lead Scrum of Scrums, as well as SoS retrospectives, and ensure the efficient, effective delivery of features through collaboration, communication and clarity of requirements.Perhaps most important to the growth and success of SugarCRM are the people that build it. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager for Engineering Applications I am responsible for the management of both the Core UI team and the Process Management Integrations team. We currently handle all facets of maintenance and development of the core front end framework, the business process management engine, application integrations, dashboards and filters within Sugar. I also lead various Engineering Organization Scrum ceremonies such as Scrum of Scrums (SoS), SoS Retrospectives and SoS Sprint Reviews.I'm a process driven manager who is always looking for ways to improve how software gets built and delivered. I've established, or collaborated on, several process improvements within Engineering and my teams that have had a measurable impact on our capacity. As a senior software engineer on the framework team I am responsible for the maintenance and development of Studio and Module Builder, and to a lesser degree, Sugar Workflow, in the SugarCRM product. I'm also responsible for metadata management, conversion and parsing of metadata as well as several components within the new Rest API, including the File API. I've developed software to support past (including Sugar 6.4), current and new releases of the SugarCRM product in addition to fixing bugs, troubleshooting issues, presenting to peers, partners and support staff and collaborating on design and architecture plans.As a member of the integrations team I am primarily responsible for server side contributions to the SugarCRM connector framework. Additionally, I am responsible for the D&B connector and partially responsible for the Marketo connector. I also own the next generation RSS Reader.I work almost entirely in PHP, engineering for the SugarCRM backend. I've worked against several database servers, including Oracle, IBM DB2, SQL Server and MySQL and have done so across all operating systems. Additionally, I've made some client side contributions to the next generation of SugarCRM.As much of our work is a collaborative, worldwide endeavor across a distributed team of engineers and support personnel, I've become quite accustomed to SDLC. My git fu has increasingly improved, as has my knowledge of continuous integration (don't just go green, STAY GREEN!) and shell scripting. Jenkins, phpUnit and PhantomJS are irreplaceable tools in keeping everyone happy happy happy. I do all of my work on my Macbook Pro using SublimeText2, a little bit of phpStorm, Zend Debugger, Chrome, iTerm2 and Sequel Pro on a MAMP installation and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Currently leading all technology, engineering and architecture initiatives including planning, systems architecture, software development and deployment strategies. Working closely with the executive team and sales team, I am responsible for end-to-end development of the software that drives our mobile marketing platform, API and CRM. As an engineer I am developing on a LAMP stack made up of Ubuntu Server, Apache 2.2, MySQL 5.1 and PHP 5.3. Our codebase is built upon Zend Framework and uses an entirely OOP style, tapping into the solid MVC structure found in ZF. All data access is handled through the use of stored procedures on our MySQL servers and many of our scheduled jobs are written in CLI PHP when appropriate.For our environment I've architected our test and production systems on AWS utilizing EC2s, S3s, RDSs and ELBs and have implemented security groups to ensure only authorized programmers and engineers have access to any needed resources. I've also deployed our SDLC solution and implemented various standards for development.
