Working as part of a core team delivering the Boots Single View of Customer based on IBM Infosphere MDM which is helping to transform the IT landscape for Boots and improve the overall customer experience. Tasks include:-- Arriving at technical solutions with Developers and overseeing solution designs, providing architectural governance and oversight to ensure consistency and alignment with architecture strategy- Ensuring conformance with Data Governance particularly in respect to MDM and usage of data validation services- Providing expertise, guidance and innovation in particular on MDM

Working closely with the appropriate business departments, internal IT teams and selected vendors, the role ensures that IT supports the business operations in the achievements of their effectiveness and efficiencies.The role focuses on supporting and further developing the integration of the required legacy business systems and the underlying data and takes a leading position in large scale Business Systems projects including upgrading, replacing or developing new business solutions, with a particular focus on ERP and Web class applications deployed across sites spread over the UK.

Working closely with the Managing Director I have completely written from the ground up including initial prototypes, the company's Cleaning Planning system, dealing with company contracts, allocation of staff to cleaning jobs, through to pay roll and corporate absence scheme.The system has over the last seven years gradually replaced the manual spreadsheets in place originally, through an internal web front-end and SQL Server database backend, and is set for more improvement going forward.

Following the acquisition of Derbyshire, Dunfermline and Cheshire Building Societies by the Nationwide in 2008-09, the role rapidly moved from a Derbyshire only position, into a cross-brand role for all three "Regional Brands", working with five other architects and reporting to the Lead Architect.The role had the responsibility of ensuring software architecture across the brands conformed to the agreed stated platform and that existing and future (target) technologies were designed and developed appropriately to meet the current and future requirements of the business. Responsible for managing the WinTel development team and overseeing the support and maintenance of The Derbyshire's software architecture.Reporting into the IT Director the role was to ensure system developments were delivered to time and quality ensuring the Software Development Life Cycle was followed. Being of a semi-technical nature, the role required that developments were closely monitored directly where necessary, often being very "hands-on".

Responsible as part of a newly setup Architecture team for the governance of emerging technologies and in particular the overseeing of The Derbyshire's cutting-edge middleware eBusiness endeavour, primarily using TIBCO software which introduced Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and at the time probably more advanced than any other Building Society.The role involved working very closely with a number of developers from a third party contractor to carry out the development, and facilitating the delivery into the organisation in 2002. Keeping track of the process based applications and components became a key focus of the role as the size and scale of the endeavor escalated.

Responsible as part of a small team for the support and development of Windows based applications in use at the Society. The role involved liaising with users to establish requirements, documenting and developing changes, moving to support of the applications post go-live.Initially primarily aimed at the development of numerous desktop applications written in Visual Basic, before being moved heavily as part of a larger team into the development of a Cashiering System using Olivetti software and Visual C++. I then assisted with the building of desktops and roll-out into the branch network.With the introduction of web-based technologies the role evolved into the development of several browser based applications which continue to be used to the present day. Finally before moving into architecture, I played a large part in the roll-out of a new CRM system and set-up of the Derbyshire's first Call Centre.

I was involved almost from the outset of the setup of Chevin Computer Systems in assisting with all tasks including the development and support of the core product Fleet Management software, as well as installation and training for customers. The role often involved travel to customer sites, and also demonstrating the product to prospective customers and following up on sales leads.I was responsible for taking the core product from a DOS based dBASE architecture to an initial version on Windows FWG using Computer Associates Visual Objects software.As the company diversified the role branched out to software for Fork Lifts, Hire Cars and Stock Control, which lead to experience of programming with bar code readers.
