I bring a unique set of skills and an unusually broad education. I know public policy and data, I can research and write on any topic, and my communication abilities range from web design to public speaking. I love learning new ways to solve people's problems.I found my passion for public policy at the Texas Legislature. Taking abuse and neglect calls at DFPS showed me the challenges vulnerable citizens face daily. Earning my master’s degree at the LBJ School, I learned not just how to research and develop policy solutions, but also how to analyze the political context of an issue or a piece of legislation and reach out to legislators and stakeholders. I’ve volunteered as a grassroots organizer, building an advocacy team from scratch. I’m a passionate educator with years of classroom experience, and I always adapt my message for a specific audience—be it a Texas Senate committee, disadvantaged students, or average voters. My time at the Legislature gave me first-hand participation in the legislative process. I worked both independently and as a team member, under considerable pressure and long hours, while managing multiple projects with strict and often competing deadlines.My years of writing include a dissertation, policy memos, advertisements, op-eds, and published fiction. I’ve learned how to keep large projects organized and on-track, I’m comfortable presenting to audiences of all types and any size, and I pride myself on being easy to get along with.The LBJ school added data analysis to my research skills, but it was my previous graduate programs and my work in an academic library that taught me exhaustive research and meticulous accuracy. I’m trained in meeting facilitation, conflict resolution and group dynamics.My customer service work taught me how to represent an organization and unlocked my talent for creative problem-solving. I'm always eager to dive into a new topic and figure out how to make things work better, faster, and easier.
