Research Engineer (Medical Device)
Salt Lake City, Ut, Us
Worked as the materials engineer in a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Main project centered on the robotic deposition of multilayer structures of conducting and insulating polymers for use as easily customizable, novel body-interfacing electrodes. Duties included polymer chemistry for process development, microparticle characterization, formulation of conducting polymers, experimental design and setup, programming and control of robotic deposition, and development of testing procedures for final devices. Handled some or most aspects of simple electronic assembly and testing, laboratory handling and mixing of chemicals, inventory management, experimental design, programming, process development, troubleshooting, device design and manufacture, and all materials considerations.Other responsibilities included: general knowledge of materials (adhesives, thin films, silicones, urethanes, conductive particles, epoxies, combinations of all of the above and processing resulting from their use), biocompatibility, electrochemistry, grant writing and federal funding mechanisms, quality control systems and documentation, medical device regulations.
