A 4-month term assisting with piping work packages for new compressor stations for use in the Bakken Oil Field. A strong focus on teamwork, attention to detail, and significant overtime was needed to successfully complete these packages. Checking of others work was often required for errors and consistency.

I worked in the Suncor Sustaining Projects Impact Group developing upgrades for Suncors Baseplant refinery. I was the primary piping designer of the Coker Firewater Pumphouse Upgrade project where I executed from concept to CWP production. I performed multiple site visits to plan routing, locate tie-ins, resolve support issues, and attend client meetings and model reviews. I developed the 3D models and all 2D drawings including isometrics, layout, general arrangements and the Piping Construction Work Package. This was very challenging and rewarding work due to the increased level of involvement throughout the project.In addition, I was the Model Liaison/CAD Coordinator between our group and Suncors CAD Group. This responsibility saw me compiling/maintaining reference models and Navisworks walkthroughs for use by multiple disciplines to perform their own work. I later moved to the Pipelines group as the primary designer finalizing pre-existing jobs with very tight deadlines which we successfully delivered.I contributed to our safety program by volunteering as Chief Fire Warden where I helped coordinate and contribute to the safety plan, find volunteers, and conduct evacuation drills as well as obtain my First Aid Certification. During my time at Worley I completed the SmartPlant3D and Yellow Belt Six Sigma training programs.

Enerflex offered in-house engineering piping design with on-site manufacturing of modular processing and skid packages. As fabrication facilities were on site I had the opportunity to resolve design issues from an operator’s perspective and resolve issues in the shop along with the tradesman.

Thermo offered in-house engineering design with on-site manufacturing facility of modular processing packages. I 3D modeled complete skid packages, including spooling, equipment, (heaters, compressors, filters, exchangers, etc), and generated 2D drawings including Layouts, General Arrangements, P&ID's, Isometrics, and other related piping drawings.

Assigned to Suncor Baseplant projects and working under Darrell Stolarchuk I conducted site visits to verify, measure, and design around existing facilities. Along with 3D modelling, I provided AutoCAD mentoring, technical support, and delegated tasks to junior designers. Problem-solved layout issues, checked and verified vendor data, resolved clash reports and maintained electronic reference files. I created PowerPoint presentations to illustrate design and layout concepts for client reviews and clash checks. I also trained for Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

My responsibilities were to produce detailed shop drawings of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, filters, contactors, structural steel skids, isometric piping spools, flow sheet & layout, sections and plans, P&ID’s, and all accompanying bills of material. Our products were modular in nature which always required support solutions that worked for transport as well as for regular use.
