CHIEF OPERATING OFFICERI oversee all phases of administration, personnel, finances, facilities, technology, and security as the COO at Shulman Rogers – and am responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day administrative operations of the Firm. I work closely with the Firm’s managing shareholder and governing bodies to ensure the strategic initiatives are well-defined, clearly articulated, and executed with precision. My job is to help make everyone else's job easier. It is rooted in a spirit of service and a simple joy found in helping others become the best versions of themselves. CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICERFor fifteen years I served as the CIO at Shulman Rogers - one of Maryland's largest and most reputable law firms. We pride ourselves on providing robust, cutting edge solutions to our attorneys and staff while spending half of what our competitors do on technology. We accomplish this seemingly Herculean task by leveraging in-house talent to identify, implement, advertise, and maintain advanced technologies closely calibrated to the Firm's business objectives. IN THE TRENCHESI started my legal career 30 years ago - fresh out of the Marine Corps - working in the trenches of one of Maryland's oldest and largest law firms. I acquired a deep understanding of how law firms operate – from corporate structure to financing to the politics and personalities so deeply ingrained in everything that takes place within the unique constructs of mid-sized law firms. I also had an incredible 15 year continuing education in helping to litigate complex labor and employment law cases for Fortune 500 clients in front of Federal judges and juries - and in the process acquired a profound understanding of how technology can help attorneys in their everyday practices - and be the determining factor in winning or losing multi-million dollar cases. GRUNT YEARSPrior to entering the legal profession, I was a Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps - serving as an infantryman, an anti-tank assualtman, and as an explosives expert. I was twice forward-deployed to the Middle East as a member of a Special Operations Capable unit and left active duty following the conclusion of the 1st Gulf War in 1991. PERSONAL LIFEI grew up in Pago Pago (American Samoa) and in West Texas – and am the proud father of four amazing children. I live on the water in Heathsville, VA with my long-time love and our two Labrador Retrievers (Smudge and Kahlúa) and enjoy gardening, cooking, sailing, fishing, shooting, and geeking around with new technologies.
