In just two years, the medical increases had reached the mid-20% range, which caused significant cut-backs on their benefit plan. In addition, they experienced several large medical claims with no information, no transparency and no ability to control them. The client had experience with workers compensation captive and wanted a broker with captive knowledge. The solution – I immediately negotiated a 26.3% renewal down to 14.3% and developed a strategy to move the client to a benefits captive.The client transitioned to a self-funded option, as an interim step, before joining a benefits captive.The results included an immediate renewal savings of $185,314.
