I have served as a consultant to school systems, law enforcement, and community organizations. I developed and delivered programs for a variety of participants, many of whom had a history of destructive anger.. One source of transforming experiences was my work with AVP (Alternatives to Violence Project). With AVP training, I became an AVP facilitator in prison and community settings. Later, with some assistance from the New Mexico Center for Dispute Resolution and others, I was invited to: * set up peer mediation programs in public schools* work in law enforcement settings (e.g., Louisiana Community Policing Institute) * teach community mediation and conflict resolution skills * work in my community in the practice and training of mediators Later, I served as the Executive Director of the Bossier-Caddo Children's Advocacy Center (Gingerbread House). As Director, I worked with law enforcement agencies, child protection and other agencies to serve children who were victims of abuse. I supervised the forensic interviews and programs for child abuse victims and their non-offending family members. Most recently, I have served as a consultant in anger management and creative problem solving to Community Support Programs, Inc. of Louisiana. I developed a curriculum and conducted workshops for persons who engaged in destructive behaviors. Many of them were judged as having problems with anger. Included in the Community Support populations who have received this training are adjudicated juvenile offenders, adjudicated adults who have been abusive, parents who have voluntarily sought help, and some dual diagnosed, previously homeless individuals.Specialties: Self-management strategies for anxiety reduction, anger control, and exploration of personal consciousness.
