In 1975 I earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology, from Bowie State University. I then moved to Berkeley, California, where I completed both a Masters and Doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP). The title of my dissertation was: “The Personality Traits of Husbands and Wives of Alcoholics.”I then commenced my professional work career in the field of addictions. After completing my residence at Napa State Hospital, I worked for the next 21 years with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in the Northern California Region as a Psychologist and Program Director for three different outpatient alcohol and drug abuse treatment clinics (San Jose, Oakland, & Stockton). At one point, I created a comprehensive, day treatment program, which consisted of multidisciplinary staff (internal medicine and psychiatric physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors, & medical assistants), a clinic that still flourishes today.Over my years at Kaiser, I always maintained a part time private practice, which expanded into a full time practice when I retired in 2007. The primary focus of my practice has been forensic and clinical. I specialize in the areas of child custody evaluation and mediation, disability assessment, substance abuse evaluations, and workers’ compensation evaluation. As part of this work, I have been qualified as an expert witness in all of these areas, and have testified, either in depositions or trials, well over one hundred times. Lastly, I provide Individual, Family and Couple Therapy.
