The work has included energized distribution, transmission, and substation maintenance and rebuilds including pole and crossarm replacements, equipment replacement such as gang switches, circuit breakers, regulators, transformers, reclosures and capacitors. This work has required the use of hot stick and rubber glove techniques to accomplish the tasks without outages. I was involved as a lineman in the construction of the 250MW solar power plant in CA for Nextra Energy Resources facilitated by First Solar. This involved construction of all towers from the solar field to the substation through breakers installing six circuits of messenger supported hendrix cable with 1000MCM,1250MCM,750MCM underground cable risers. Fiber Optic cable was also installed from each converter station to the substation. This project was a sensitive environmental and archeological area and was completed on schedule with no incidents. I was involved as a foreman and qualified clearance holder for Bonneville Power Administration to perform outage maintenance on the Celilo-Sylmar 1000 KV DC line Pacific intertie. Insulators and spacers were replaced, repair rod was installed on conductors where possible and splices were installed where the damage was too severe during the outage. This project is ongoing subject to load requirements. The anticipated production for the first outage was accomplished on schedule and without incident. I was involved as a foreman on a 230 KV outage in Roseburg, OR where we replaced several three-pole deadend structures, guys, anchors and insulators during a scheduled outage. The concerted effort on this project was to change the structures in the environmentally sensitive areas where endangered birds nest. All of these structures were in remote locations and the project was completed on schedule without incident. Show less -

I was the first responder to feeder outages, individual customer outages, flickering light problems, low voltage problems, traffic accidents, pole hits, underground outages (loop fed and radial fed) on the feeder level and service level. I enjoyed learning troubleshooting techniques, using specialized equipment such as high pot equipment, fault locating equipment, load monitoring equipment, thermal monitoring equipment and others to solve the mystery of the power outage or power quality complaint. For several years our team of troubleman demonstrated exemplary talent resulting in the lowest outage time, quickest response time, and superior reliability. I was constantly in communication with dispatch and frequently used Lockout/Tagout procedures. During my entire time at PNM I was subject to call outs at all hours every day. I also participated in mutual assistance during catastrophic events such as Hurricanes Frances,Ivan,Jeanne,Katrina,Rita and Gustav. Most energized was done using rubber gloves, however, any job without bucket access required the use of hotsticks. For four years I was the Hotstick instructor for the PNM apprenticeship teaching hands on hotstick procedures and techniques. Show less
