NEWS INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER – Provide day to day support for a news production facility of 24 Media Composer workstations attached to an Avid Interplay network, including iNews and Capture services, interfacing with an ISIS 5000 storage environment as well as content delivery systems from Telestream Vantage. Work with a global team to support the multi-national function of the company, insuring maximum uptime of all product systems.

Regularly worked for various national and international clients on a freelance basis as producer, director, camera operator, audio engineer, editor for broadcast and non-broadcast productions of news, sports and special events. Experienced in all aspects of video and audio production from inception to completion.Systems integration engineering including specifying, designing and building audio and video systems for small government and church facilities. Responsible for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of the audio and video production facilities for the City of Palm Bay (FL) and the City of Altamonte Springs City (FL) Council Chambers, as well as the retrofit and expansion of several churches in the Central Florida area.Currently, we provide mobile sound reinforcement services to small band and concert venues, as well as consult on small venue installation and upgrades, in the Maryland and DC areas.

Work under contract with Team People for Al Jazeera International in their Washington facility. Primarily responsible for the day to day operational support of 3 broadcast studios with multiple daily live to air and recorded look live broadcasts. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all systems in that environment, including Sony Switchers, Riedel Intercom Systems, Vinten Radamec camera control systems, Sony cameras, Primeview multi-panel on-set display walls, D3LED ribbon displays, Calrec Audio consoles, Sennheiser wireless microphones and IFBs. Additional responsibilities include management of incoming remote feeds during broadcasts including ENG crews in the field, remote studio around the world and Skype interviews. As part of my regular duties, I have to integrate with my counterparts in other Al Jazeera facilities in Doha and London to troubleshoot interface issues between the facilities.

MANAGER, BROADCAST ENGINEERING/IT – Provide day to day support for a news broadcast production facility of Media Composer and Newscutter workstations attached to a fully clustered Avid Interplay network, including iNews, Capture and Command services, interfacing with both an ISIS 7000 and ISIS 5000 storage environment as well as content delivery systems from Signiant and Vantage. Responsibilities include the system management of assets, as well as supervising IT operations on both the Broadcast and Corporate networks within the facility. Integrate new equipment and systems into the facility as required and coordinate with the Newseum staff to resolve issues involving studio equipment and plant wiring.

Provide day to day troubleshooting and maintenance of Avid Symphony and Media Composer workstations attached to an ISIS/Interplay network involving 2 separate ISIS/Interplay systems in a 24/7 environment. Perform ongoing maintenance of associated hardware including analog and digital tape machines, signal processing and distribution equipment.

Responsible for the day to day troubleshooting and maintenance of Avid Newscutter workstations attached to an ISIS/Interplay network involving 2 separate ISIS/Interplay systems in a 24/7 news environment. Also responsible for ongoing maintenance of associated hardware including analog and digital tape machines, signal processing and distribution equipment, including Leitch and Miranda signal processors and frame syncs.

Troubleshoot and maintain client systems in fast paced working broadcast and post production facilities, including on-site, phone and web-tech customer support.Integrate new systems into existing facilities. Design and install new facilities, utilizing Avid Media Composer and Apple Final Cut Pro workstations with network attached storage solutions by Avid, Editshare, and Archion. Document all installation and changes in Autocad.Responsible for the internal corporate PC workstation and network support, including Cisco VOIP/POE phone system, configuring new workstations and maintaining existing systems with Microsoft Office applications, antivirus applications including Norton, McAfee and Trend Micro, Microsoft Windows and Windows Server operating systems, maintaining backups, adding and deleting systems and users in an Active Directory environment as needed.

Manage technology operations for all services. Train volunteers to operate sound and video systems. Specify and design upgrades to sound, video and lighting systems. Manage the redesign and upgrade of the lighting system and assistive hearing system in the main sanctuary and the redesign of the audio system in the Family Life worship center including the adoption of a digital audio board, expanded wireless capabilities, and in-ear monitoring for the worship team.

Operate and maintain audio production systems in live remote and studio operations for broadcast of sports and other multi-camera events.Design, build and maintain remote broadcast multi-camera trucks.Design, build and maintain multiple edit room facilities for post-production with Avid and Soft Image systems.Maintain all broadcast electronic equipment, including camera systems, VTRs, audio mixers, microphones, distribution amplifiers, monitors.Responsible for the design and installation of a three suite Avid DS facility including a DS Nitris system and a machine room to support all three suites simultaneously. Responsible for the design and audio retrofit of two location production trucks. As primary audio engineer, I was responsible for the audio on multi-camera live broadcasts for International Launch Services satellite launches, as well as sports events for Fox Sports.

Produce and integrate audio, video and photographic elements into training programs for the United States military. While in this position, I was responsible for over 150 hours of voiceover creation and integration into the US Navy Basic Engineering Common Course Curriculum, as well media creation for the TSA Portstep disaster readiness program.

Design, develop and install video production facilities for ongoing programs for the United States Army and local government agencies. Provide ongoing management, maintenance and training for crews staffing these facilities. While in this position, I was responsible for the final design, installation and integration of an Avid Unity Lanshare/Media Manager system with 4 Avid Newscutters and multiple Media Browse client workstations for the US Army training installation in Grafenwoehr, Germany, integrating its functionality with live down range cameras and audio feeds and real-time 3D GPS animated tracking video.

Instructed students in all phases of video production including editing, program development, broadcast engineering and multi-camera live switch production in a studio environment utilizing Grass Valley, Ampex and Sony switchers.
