Founder
CurrentGot To Get Out (https://www.facebook.com/gottogetout) is a social enterprise designed to encourage people to get outdoors, be active, and make new friends. The social element of the organisation is the mission that is the primary driver: to enhance the health and wellness of those who take part, and those who are part of our community. The idea back in 2015 was simple: we arrange awesome weekend adventures in the Auckland region that are social, active, outdoors-based and healthy. At the time there was a real demand for people - especially those working full time in an office - to 'get out there' and do something more exciting on the weekend. Since then we have hosted hundreds of outdoot domestic tourism type adventures around New Zealand including climbing mountains, mountainbiking, paddle boarding, sailing, surfing, hiking and kayaking.I launched Got To Get Out while personally travelling to the Mt Everest Base Camp in Nepal: I decided my purpose in life was to encourage others to get out and be active.
Auckland Conservation Board Member
The Auckland Conservation Board is the community’s voice in conservation management in the region. The board gives advice to DOC on local conservation matters and carries out important planning roles. A major responsibility of the board is in the development and implementation of the Auckland Conservation Management Strategy. You can read about it here: https://www.doc.govt.nz/about-us/statutory-and-advisory-bodies/conservation-boards/auckland/This statutory plan identifies and establishes objectives for the integrated management of natural and historic resources within the region. The Conservation Board is involved in the preparation, review, amendment, and implementation monitoring of the plan.
Torpedo7 Ambassador (Got To Get Out / Torpedo7 Partnership)
In 2019/2020 myself and Got To Get Out were partnered with Torpedo7 to get Kiwis outdoors, in every region Torpedo7 had a store. This sponsorship / collaboration involved hosting over 150 outdoor (or indoors) events such as hikes, bike rides and paddle-board events. These events were usually free for people to attend. This project was a superb example of social enterprise and business partnering for a socially-good outcome.
Director Of Special Initiatives
In 2016 my role evolved from Director of Advancement, to Director of Special Initiatives to reflect the nature of the work at AUT, as part of the Corporate Governance and Development Group.I basically developed then project managed a range of unique projects (typically 'first time' pilots) primarily to help make students more employable and ready for the workplace and engaged with industry. I also help to secure internships in NZ and the US and Canada via a NZ-first program called www.internz.aut.ac.nz which matches students to internships. Finally, I was involved in projects to engage with notable alumni both locally and abroad. Events I helped to develop then manage included employability workshops like 'Match Ready', and I was part of the AUT Mentoring program. I travelled to the US and Canada to meet with alumni and open up internship opportunities with some of the biggest companies in the US.
Director Of Advancement
My title was 'Director of Advancement' at AUT. My role on the corporate governance group was to 'advance' a range of special and strategic initiatives, that include:- international and local internships for students- industry mentoring- employability workshops (called Match Ready events)- notable alumni engagement.I worked on the Corporate Governance and Development Group, reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of AUT.
General Manager - Experiential Marketing
I founded Sublime Activation (ex SublimeNZ) in 2006 from a spare bedroom of my parents house, and over several years grew it into the 31st fastest growing companies in NZ as ranked by the Deloitte Fast 50 (2012).My goal had always be to grow the business internationally, and in 2012 one of my clients PPR (Professional Public Relations, PPR) acquired 100% of the agency. I was retained in the acquisition and apppointed as GM-Experiential before exiting in December 2014.Sublime worked mostly with FMCG brands, fragrance/cosmetics, major events and liquor. The industry is called experiential marketing as it is about the creation of experiences between customers and brands. I have vast experience with these sorts of marketing campaigns.
Founder/Managing Director
This agency was ranked 31st fastest growing company (Deloitte Fast50) then was acquired by PPR and renamed Sublime Activation. My role as Managing Director was to run the whole company, oversee the everyday activity of the business, whilst also planning the future of the agency. This involved coordinating new branding, our attendance at any events (such as marketing conferences etc), staff recruitment and training, and finances. I was Account Director for many clients, and helping to keep the team working towards targets and goals.
Sponsorship Manager
At times while running SublimeNZ I would contract to events to package then sell sponsorship properties. Naming rights, associated rights, product sampling. My role was to help this amazing festival (80,000 people) to attract brands to make the most of the opportunity- and help them leverage the event. In this instance, I was able to attract several major corporations to the event, including: - Skinny Mobile (subsidiary of Telecom)- Womans Day (ACP Magazines)- Duece Shoes (Overland Shoes)
Sponsorship Manager (Contracted)
RNV is the premier New Zealand NEW festival. I was brought on (while running SublimeNZ) to attract and manage sponsorship sales. This included sponsor management, on-site activation at the event NYE 2008/2009.Success including bringing on board Lion Nathan, Redbull, Beam Global, and other major brands.
Account Executive
Marc Edward Agency (MEA) is a Sydney based experiential marketing agency. The company manages major instore or outdoor marketing and promotional staffing campaigns (nationwide). During this time I was looking after Nokia, Smirnoff, Vodafone and several other brand activations around Austraila including being the NSW Vodafone 'in field manager' for store openings and sponsorship leverage.
