Vice President, Finance – Eastern Group
• Directed and managed the field finance organization for the Eastern Group, which consisted of approximately 200 personnel. The principle responsibilities of this organization were to process transactions, maintain accounting records, prepare reports, analyze results and administer the internal control environment, all in compliance with company policies, procedures, SOX and GAAP.• Partnered, supported and assisted Operations in driving achievement of Corporate and Group budget goals and strategic initiatives. The Eastern Group was the most complex operating unit within Waste Management, with $3.2 billion in revenue and 8,000 employees, which represents approximately 25% of total company operations.• Managed annual capital budget of $300 million. Guided bid and contract pricing. Managed implementation of multi-year restructuring effort that increased profitability margins from 9.5% to 18.0%. Key leader in establishing and growing shale gas growth opportunity- Revenue growth from $300k to $150 million in 3 years.• Negotiated numerous contract arrangements. Provided financial oversight in negotiations in a series of complex contracts with New York City. These 20 year contracts have aggregate revenue value of over $2.0 billion. Successfully managed several litigation issues including a matter claiming over $50 million in damages settled for less than $1 million, Participated in numerous internal organizational restructurings.
