I worked in the nationally recognized Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University. Efforts for the department focus on guiding faculty through early commercialization challenges; helping faculty secure intellectual property rights in partnership with our technology transfer offices, developing go-to-market strategies, and identifying early-stage funding strategies. Primary activities:• Responsible for collaborating with over 70 primary faculty in the Department of Biomedical Engineering to identify, evaluate and accelerate the commercialization of early-stage technologies. I manage over 20 individual projects, guiding activities to develop products with high potential for commercial success.• Work collaboratively to connect research faculty with both internal and external programs that advance and mature technologies for the commercial marketplace. Frequently assess technologies for fit with accelerator programs, commercial partners, as well as funding opportunities ranging from non-dilutive grant funding to venture capital investment.• Establish and grow relationships within the biotechnology, medical device and digital health ecosystem to match faculty technologies with strategic verticals in various industries.• Project manager for six teams within the Biolocity non-dilutive funding portfolio, helping negotiate agreeable solutions for complex problems related to technical progress and business development.

Startup vaccine development company working to bring a novel vaccine to market to help those suffering from parasitic diseases in developing countries. Activities:▪ Implementing innovative commercialization strategies and generating a reliable flow of capital to develop a novel vaccine for the prevention of Leishmaniasis. The vaccine is pending review as a Investigational New Drug with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and is presently undergoing preclinical testing at Georgia Tech.▪ Successfully worked with NanoCliq team and industry leaders to determine optimal commercialization strategy for a first-in-class vaccine. Jointly developed an effective business model to simultaneously commercialize and gain FDA approval for said vaccine. ▪ Successfully raised $100,000 in non-dilutive funding through the National Science. Currently under review for funding through Biolocity.

Directed economic development for the biopharmaceutical, medical device and digital health companies in the metro Atlanta region. Project manager for the Global Health ATL initiative.Primarty activities:• Simultaneously balanced multiple projects while working closely with senior executives from the metro Atlanta business community to help identify needs and implement strategies to drive company growth.• Worked extensively with startup, early-stage, mid-market and Fortune 500 companies to support the development and commercialization of technologies and products in the life science, medical device and digital health verticals.• Project manager for four teams totaling over 100 volunteers for the Global Health ATL (GHA) initiative. Presented regular updates on project developments to the GHA executive committee comprising senior executives from public, private, non-profit and government organizations within metro Atlanta. Early efforts led to the eventual launch of the Atlanta-based Global Health Crisis Coordination Center in 2020.• Effectively worked across organizations to support economic and business development missions; partners included United Parcel Service, the American Cancer Society, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia Power and Georgia Tech, among others.• Successfully oversaw the addition of over 800 jobs through recruitment, retention and expansion activities in the life science, medical device and digital health industries.

▪ Completed over one hundred meetings to gain detailed knowledge of the vaccine development landscape. Conducted in-person customer interviews in three countries in the EU (Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands) as well as multiple locations across the United States to obtain an adequate cross section of a potential customer base. All interviews were successfully obtained and analyzed in a total of 45 days. ▪ Received rigorous critiques of interviews in weekly presentations to the National Science Foundation instructors and fellow peers. Met or exceeded expectations of the strict program criteria permitting the use of NSF funding for NanoCliq business development.▪ Interviews and the information garnered allowed a restructuring of the NanoCliq business model with a more sustainable framework and clearly defined product roadmap.

Consulted for a small startup company looking to apply photo recognition software to ease the retail shopping burden in selected markets.Activities:▪ Worked with company acquired by Amazon to determine potential applications of photo recognition technology; allowing identification and ordering of exact parts by submitting a photo of a product to the retailer.▪ Identified profitable market segments alongside company founders. Concluded that the most profitable would be: automotive parts, large mechanical-industrial equipment, and agricultural products.

Assisted in identification of logistical inefficiencies within the transportation of consumable goods across the greater Atlanta area. Activities:▪ Approached, and was accepted by, the city of Atlanta to evaluate logistics and operations within the Atlanta Food Bank. Contact was initiated following a case competition in which my team evaluated the current efficiency of food distribution in the city of Atlanta and successfully (winning first prize over all other competitors) determined a much improved method. ▪ Over the duration of the consulting project, continually worked to identify key logistical issues present within the Atlanta food distribution infrastructure. Developed a method for reducing travel distances of distribution vehicles by 15%. ▪ Regularly met with Atlanta Food Bank officers and board of directors to voice our insights and work towards implementing our improved solutions to increase efficiency.

Responsible for the teaching of a total of 13 laboratory sections over two semesters. Each section ran three hours long and contained up to 30 students. The lab sections were in the subject area's of general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. Responsible for lecturing at the beginning of the section to provide key details in the experiment the students were to perform, along with overseeing the completion of the experiment while maintaining safe laboratory conditions for the students. Also was responsible in the Spring semester of an 85 student lecture comprised mainly of nursing track students teaching Survey to Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.
