I led a team of over 300 risk professionals across multiple offices, uplifting capability and playing a vital role in managing through change.I implemented a new risk structure that transferred the reporting line of credit risk functions from relevant business heads to the central Risk function, resulting in many higher-value decisions being made without requiring Line 2 approval.I also developed and executed a board-approved risk appetite statement and established a presence for CAF in Gurugram, India, which reduced cost and increased capability in data science, analytics and reporting capability- leading to improvement in loss rates in credit portfolios and origination quality. I led the CAF response to a number of regulatory matters including an APRA review and associated remediation, the Financial Services Royal Commission, and my team and I separated the risk function for the transfer of Macquarie Leasing to the Banking and Financial Services Group. I was also responsible for overseeing credit portfolios and limits, and developing and implementing systems, staffing, and strategic initiatives.I managed a team of credit analysts and guided strategic acquisitions, working in parallel with transaction teams on several acquisitions and leading credit risk diligence and integration efforts. I established a risk framework for new lending areas, such as lending secured by Private Equity Fund portfolios and Hedge Funds, which became a highly successful business with no credit losses.I also improved the structures, processes, and efficiency of risk management in the securities group, including modifying business-level delegation and documenting Hedge Fund Frameworks and ISDA negotiation guidelines.I developed a versatile technical skill set that allowed me to cover a diverse range of products, sectors, and transaction types and was granted delegation for permanent credit lending limits of up to $75m. I also completed a review of clearing and custody arrangements during the financial crisis, a complex area covering both legal and operational reviews.During my time in Credit, I had significant exposure to a number of other products and sectors including real estate lending and investment, corporate finance and was the Head of Country Risk.
