I currently am the head of the Planning Division of the Department of Community Development, a Division with 6 planners. I report to the Director of Community Development, Brian Davis who directly reports to the Mayor. Currently, we are working on a number of major, and sometimes controversial projects including the establishment of DaVita in the City which will eventually employ over 2500 people, to address the Weyerhaeuser project where storage facilities are being proposed amongst great protest, and the establishment of the first of two transit rail stations, the rail providing direct connection to the airport and Seattle. Planning is never boring.

As Planning Official, I am responsible for bringing the Comprehensive Plan into compliance with the Growth Management Act, administrating land use applications and overseeing developing visual GIS applications. Most recently, I have concentrated on water management in the eastern portion of Washington State. I was instrumental in helping Commissioner Paul Jewell negotiate with opposing parties and develop a public water bank that will mitigate the water sources within the County. We expect the public water bank will develop as a primary water-mitigation model that will be used by the Department of Ecology with other counties throughout the State.
