Created a progressive and advanced warranty/customer service department to support Halex' new electronic tool. Researched company and customer needs, designed and mapped the process, and trained each participant from the company's departments. Using existing company physical assets and available workers, designed and constructed a warranty/repair lab that exceeded expectations by also serving as the engineering lab.Developed a Filemaker Pro compliance database, after company suffered the loss of all who handled regulatory compliance administration. The database showed the varied structures of UL and CSA file relationships, and tied together Halex, its many vendors, regulatory agencies, and the large variety of Halex products. This allowed verification of agency invoices, and made compliance file structures understandable for maintenance, cost cutting, and setup of new vendors.

Leader of effort to gain formal accreditation for the lab and compliance work of EUCS.• Researched accreditation agencies, requirements, and applicability to EUCS services.• Presented accreditation information, advantages, and cost information to EUCS staff, and served as liaison with the agency.• Prepared internal audit of the EUCS organization, for the accreditation scope of EMC and other European testing.

Engineer for commercial aircraft interior actuation systems group. Held key role in design assurance, responsible for testing and regulatory compliance strategy and implementation. With only one complete program on the books when I started, we developed a compliance group that was effective in fast project completion, whose performance was well respected by customers, and capable of serving the needs of engineers and project managers. • Developed and documented airworthiness testing plans, procedures, and reports to satisfy FAA, airframe manufacturer, and customer requirements. Researched standards governing commercial aircraft interior electrical and mechanical systems to determine applicability to the custom aircraft systems being developed. Successfully completed more than fifteen compliance programs for custom aircraft equipment. • Created a database to leverage previous testing results in planned programs. This allowed the company to capitalize on testing that was already performed, and to use similarity arguments to avoid new testing for all programs. • Performed pretesting and final testing for EMI, flammability, temperature, vibration, compression and decompression, acoustic noise and other performance parameters. Created test rigs and tested first article and sample systems. • To bring more than 15 aircraft programs to documented compliance, traveled to test labs, to witness, perform testing and address shortcomings of newly designed products, under tight schedules.• Worked between departments to design and establish efficient and complete ECO and documentation systems. Monitored ECOs and product documentation to determine effects on compliance and product performance.

Served as project engineer for European and domestic regulatory compliance. Created and built up an office to serve the company as a source of compliance information, organized by product and by agency. Managed compliance project for every product, to the CE, UL, and CSA standards required.• Researched and designed Technical Construction Files, test plans and procedures. Wrote and executed test plans, test procedures and test reports. Located, selected, and contracted laboratories and third party associates as required. • Designed and constructed EMC and product safety test rigs and traveled with the products to test labs and third party offices to facilitate quick testing and on-time product release. Gained compliance for eight products in six months in order to avert closing of our European sales office by the German government.• Wrote, edited, and reviewed product technical manuals and product to support product introduction and for compliance needs.

As EMC lab staff member, performed CE compliance testing on many types of programmable controller systems. Assisted the project engineers in constructing test setups, programming the controllers, and documenting testing.Constructed and calibrated EMC chambers and other EMC test equipment. Programmed and tested automated calibration test software and hardware. Worked with automated test vendor to asses and solve problems with their products.Served as Compliance engineer to gain control of the company's UL and CSA projects after the loss of their only compliance engineer. Organized and made progress with over 100 compliance projects left in disorder.

• Integration and final test of magnetic resonance (MR) and x-ray systems. Performed final testing of systems just before shipment to hospitals. Supported new product introduction for quality assurance and MR departments.• Tested, diagnosed, and repaired magnetic resonance and x-ray imaging systems, from system level to component level. Performed image and hardware testing of the MR units, including magnetic field shimming, complete radio RF chain calibration, coil performance analysis and final image quality analysis.• Authored complete MR system and component test procedures, to provide improved communication between quality, engineering and production departments. Created and maintained a database for document management of these procedures, their sourcing, revision history, and applicability.• Performed RF amplifier testing, repair, and vendor relations, for magnetic resonance production facility. Working with the vendor, in 3 months, restored a backlog of 15 unusable 1200 Watt amplifiers to specification, saving over $200,000 of unusable inventory. Managed this activity by creating a database for all RF amplifiers.• Managed calibration and repair of the entire inventory of MR production test instruments. Created and maintained a database for acquisition, usage, repair history, and calibration. Trained technicians on use of equipment.

Beginning with being the sole technician at a Case Western Reserve spin-off company, built the gorup to five technicians and a purchasing agent. Trained each in soldering, assembly, testing, ruggedization, purchasing, and other key skills. • Accomplished the complete physical design of a ruggedized field computer. Components were all chosen with redundant sources to avoid availability problems. Contracted production of PCBs not assembled in house. Assembled and tested PCBs in-house.
