Assistant City Attorney
The City Attorney provides legal advice and representation to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and City departments on a broad range of issues, including Constitutional law, real estate and land use, planning and zoning, environmental law, employment law, tax law, economic development, Freedom of Information and records management, public procurement, and civil litigation.We draft legal advice, administrative and personnel policies, deeds and other real estate documents, contracts, franchises, leases, and other agreements. We draft local legislation and occasionally lobby at the state level. We represent the City in civil litigation and administrative proceedings. The City Attorney is City Council's parliamentarian.I'm involved in all areas of our practice, and I have primary responsibility for these areas: records management and FOIA; franchises, leases, and easements; the First Amendment; code enforcement (building, fire, property maintenance, ABC, nuisances); public procurement; HIPAA compliance.
