Contracted by a startup company to fully develop EVJect Escape Connector, a high voltage/current (480V–400A) EV safety breakaway charging adapter for Tesla Superchargers, ready for mass production. Oversaw the production of 1,300 units, addressing and solving challenges. • In addition, helped rapidly prototype two beautiful, production looking futuristic EV related concepts for the SEMA automotive trade show, which significantly increased market interest in the company.

Perform engineering design and development on lightweight drones, threat-detecting radar sensors, malicious drone capture or destruction technology and related payloads and ground equipment. This includes making improvements, solving production or customer problems on existing products.• Invented and patented 2 novel drone capture solutions that enabled a $500M contract with the US Army.• Designed and tested some lightweight yet effective solutions to eliminate tether breakage with impact loads.• Innovated and prototyped concept designs to minimize drone crashes caused by tether entanglement.• Designed and built a prototype tube launching system for drones in 1 week. The concept testing was successful.• Helped develop solutions to various drone issues, resulting in increased drone reliability and performance • Participated on a creative design team, generating next-generation drone designs, systems and defense concepts.• Engineered high accuracy calibration tools, including a system to precisely adjust radar IMUs, boosting angular heading accuracy in mission-critical environments.• Optimized radar production test chambers, by analyzing various systems and components involved in calibration and introducing changes that improved calibration accuracy and also speed, resulting in streamlining production.• Developed a light weight, foldable, GPS-based radar heading calibration device for military use in Ukraine, designed for quick deployment and ease of transport within a rugged field case.• Created a “GPS-denied” calibration device for use in environments without satellite signals, ensuring operational effectiveness in any situation. It was successfully designed to fit in the same case with the GPS-based system.• Corroborated with EEs to solve overheating issues and ESD susceptibility with the drone pilot carrier PCB.• Designed a new heading calibration system for the next generation radar, resulting in easier use and lower cost.

Gooch Engineering has brought a wide variety of products from conception, through engineering design and testing complete to full production. These include a variety of highly technical industrial products as well as consumer products. This includes mechanical and industrial design as well as electronics and associated firmware and software. We have solved some very challenging technical problems.• Developed a complex, smart electro-pneumatic valve positioner from concept through final design, safety certification approval and production. • Managed all engineering aspects, including mechanical design, thermal and vibration analysis, electronic hardware integration, firmware development, regulatory certification, and DTM PC software creation.• Conducted extensive FEA simulations and real-world tests to ensure product compliance with IECEx explosion-proof standards, CE marking requirements for Europe, and NEMA 4X and IP66 certifications.• Established a manufacturing facility, ISO 9001 based quality system, implemented rigorous manufacturing protocols, and qualified and collaborated closely with vendors for tooling and supply chain management.• Delivered various other diverse engineering projects, including a structural analysis and testing of a helicopter payload delivery system, innovative radio designs for last-mile internet solutions, an automatic CNC machine for cutting custom shaped CDs, and a multi band radio for use by the FCC to detect illegal transmitters.• Designed and patented a range of products for a startup company, including an energy-harvesting wireless light switch family, door and window sensor, occupancy sensor and a unique wireless entry key card switch. These were all designed using DFA principles to snap together without fasteners, driving company growth and revenue.

R3 Sensors designs and manufactures a unique patented wireless sensor system. All the various sensors in the system are "plug-and-play" interchangeable, and the system is very quick to setup and see data. They are used for equipment health monitoring and various other industrial monitoring applications. • Conceptualized and developed a patented, plug-and-play wireless equipment monitoring system, prioritizing versatility, ease of use and ultra-low power consumption for extended battery life.• Directed comprehensive business operations, from product design to marketing and production. Set up manufacturing, including establishing an ISO 9001 based quality program.• Grew the company and successfully sold it in 2015.

• Partnered with Product Management to identify technology gaps and market opportunities, influencing product roadmaps for high-performance valve positioners and accessories.• Was a voting member on HART and ISA SP100 wireless communication industry standard committees.• Led a multinational team to develop the Logix 500si valve positioner, integrating advanced diagnostic algorithms and innovated user-friendly quick-configuration hardware and software interface.• Created a “Skunkworks Project” to develop the XL positioner in record time, creating the world’s most responsive, accurate valve controller, and earning praise from Shell Oil for greatly improved control & reliability.

• Formulated and implemented strategic product planning processes, including a new product screening framework and a comprehensive 5-year product roadmap on digital, intelligent products.• Managed product development initiatives, including a microprocessor-based valve controller, from voice-of-customer research to specification writing.

• Taught multi-disciplinary engineering student teams product design principles and practice. • Guided and mentored student teams in a variety of company sponsored development projects.• Projects included: improvements to C- arm X-Ray system, medical devices, robot end effector for semiconductor clean room, autonomous feeding system for monkey research, improved latch/un-latch mechanism, and others.
