Over my lifetime, I have discovered that I am passionate about two things: Working with a team to accomplish a common goal, and solving complex and challenging problems. For engineers, these two things often intersect. This is why I believe a career in electrical engineering is my calling.Since high school, I knew I wanted to attend college to obtain a degree in electrical engineering. However, my path to this degree would not be a straight one. After the economic collapse in 2008, I decided that the best choice for my future would be to join the United States Navy. With my passions in mind, I chose my military specialty to be an Electronics Technician.I quickly realized that I had made the right decision. I found joy in the team camradery and I found the problems I faced uniquely challenging. I had to serve in multiple roles in the Navy, sometimes simultaneously. I was a technician working on electrical equipment, a training team member instructing new sailors on the techniques of damage control, a work center supervisor in charge of maintenance scheduling and logistics, and much more. Through these many roles, I was able to develop many professional skills that I will utilize for the rest of my career.Now, having achieved my goal of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, I am serving as the Staff Engineer at MAG where I design and develop drive and control electronics for ferrite-based microwave components and subsystems. I am happy to report that I have found what I have been looking for. We have a small and dedicated team that emphasizes teamwork in order to overcome the many challenging and complex problems that we face on a daily basis. I am excited to continue to learn and develop my skills here at MAG.
