About Robert Hood
I am a mid-senior level Java developer with roughly 9 years of experience working with Java and its various associated technologies; 5 of these I have spent at the enterprise level. I hold a Master's of Science in Computer Science in addition to a minor in Mathematics. My graduate academic focus of study was computer security, which is reflected in the various classes and additional training I have taken. As a developer, these have provided a great deal of insight into what makes solid computer software architecture. I believe that good software flows from a firm understanding of the basics of any technology stack, and I have devoted many study hours towards gaining such insight. When combined with proper software testing and "just enough" project documentation, many problems can be prevented before becoming problems. This approach has proven to save many hours at times when every moment comes at a premium. I have also demonstrated at previous positions my ability to clean up legacy projects and code, realizing performance improvements as great as 15x over the original.I am looking for my next developer position in the St. Petersburg area, or Westshore or downtown Tampa. This position can be one working with a technology with which I am already familiar, or an entirely new branch of the Java family. What's important is finding a company that believes in investing into its employees' growth and training. My 5-year goal is to grow into a senior level developer with full-stack programming knowledge.
