The VCBB was established by Act 71 (2021)—An act relating to accelerated community broadband deployment—to coordinate, facilitate, support, and accelerate the development and implementation of universal community broadband solutions. The board will develop policies and programs to accelerate community efforts that advance the State’s goal of achieving universal access to reliable, high-quality, affordable, fixed broadband achieving speeds of at least 100 Mbps symmetrical.

Worked with local communities to improve food access by organizing food co-ops on the Wholeshare platform. Grew onboarding of new Wholeshare communities from 6 in Q1 2015 to 32 in Q1 2016. Built comprehensive sales pipeline for potential communities with detailed milestones, phone triggers, and email drip campaigns. My position ended when the company was acquired by Direct Eats.

Provided custom advising and implementation assistance to community groups, agricultural businesses and non-profit organizations as they advance their use of Internet-based communications and applications to become more resilient to disasters and more efficient and effective at serving their members. This included hosting 60 workshops, meeting with and providing strategic advice to 160 organizations, building and/or managing the creation of 50 websites, overseeing the production of a model WordPress template site to be used by 12 Vermont libraries and leveraging approximately $60,000 in in-kind support from Vermont's tech sector.

Developed a plan to reducing idling using Community-Based Social Marketing. Researched and analyzed leading transportation organization's newsletters to provide evidence of automobile bias. Analyzed the Transportation Improvement Plans (short-term and longterm plans) of Northeastern States. Organized and transcribed interviews with State DOT officials on workforce development needs in the transportation industry.

Worked with churches, schools and other stakeholders to organize events designed to sensitize communities to child trafficking/ labor concerns. Facilitated youth discussion group at annual child rights conference.

Advised Communications Director regarding messaging, social media, and website strategy. Implemented intensive computer training for local staff.

Organized events including a successful lobby day, toxic toy testings, and press conferences with state legislatures. Testified at various forums regarding environmental health issues.

Developed and implemented a plan to create a food bank farm to support local food pantries. Raised over $50,000 in start-up grant funding for the project.

Served as the founder and director for four years. I developed the concept, raised the funds and implemented the vision for an organization that grew to over 4,000 contacts and a budget of approximately $60,000/yr. Guided efforts to pass state legislation protecting farmers from contamination by genetically engineered crops, pass resolutions and ordinances in local communities declaring themselves GMO free zones, and to strengthen the Maine State Food Policy. Organized events including conferences, speaking tours, workshops, protests, and film screenings and produced and edited eight issues of our popular 24 page newspaper Saving Seeds.
