• Preside directly over a floor of sixty residents, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and accommodating living environment• Lead by example, demonstrating values of the UConn Creed, Department of Residential Life, and university housing contract• Facilitate community development by implementing programs embodying the five pillars of community development, academic success, personal health and wellness, cultural exploration, and civic engagement. • Advise residents in academic, social, and personal areas of interest guiding them in a limitless range of endeavors• Counsel residents in all matters of college life, including roommate relationships, social development, alcohol usage, and safe sex practices.• Collaborate with colleagues to work out duty schedules, conduct floor meetings, host large scale community events, and decide an immediate course of action to confront ambiguous or dangerous situations in the residence hall.

• Acclimate and orient new students to the university culture.• Lead groups of 10-23 incoming first year students through a two day orientation program.• Lead groups of 4-13 incoming transfer students through an eight hour orientation program. • Facilitate discussions on campus life including: The UConn Creed, academic opportunities and requirements, social life, co-curricular involvement, college health, safety, and diversity. • Give in-depth guided tours to incoming students and their families.• Aid students in picking classes which fulfill personal and university academic goals.• Conduct ice-breakers and encourage friendly peer interactions.• Act in educational vignettes and emcee during the evening program.
