I am a New York-based photojournalist, photo editor and videographer with a distinguished career in newspapers and magazines. I am also an artist-in-residence at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, a long-time photo editor and photographer at The Journal News and a past president of the New York Press Photographers. I research, acquire and edit photographs from social media, news and celebrity agencies, photographers, publishers and other sources. With my Photoshop skills I create visually compelling composite images for the homepage and other sections to showcase the top and trending stories for one of the most popular newspaper websites in the world.

Working in a fast-paced newsroom, I edited photos and videos for immediate delivery to the web, other social media platforms and for print publications. I supervised staff photographers, edited their images and created a dozen or more photo galleries and video presentations nightly. I also coached the reporting staff in producing quality videos for their online stories. As a special projects coordinator for web initiatives, I produced election guides, high school sports packages and a yearly special graduation section featuring over 100 local high schools and colleges that resulted in over 3 million clicks a year to the Lohud.com website.

I set the course for the photo department and its staff of 21 photographers, editors and lab technicians when we started the conversion to digital photography from the dark ages of film. I also established protocols for our computer systems to archive our new digital images. Other responsibilities included Gannett corporate recruiting and writing capital plans.

I worked in the Rockland regional office and directed a staff of four photographers and several freelancers. Community journalism was the most satisfying part of my time there - building connections and learning the workings of the county. Besides photographing several assignments daily, I coordinated the photo report with the city desk and other section editors. I was also president of the New York Press Photographers Association at this time
