Expert in digital product strategy, user experience design, digital publishing, editorial strategy, ecommerce, org design, and cross-functional team leadership with 20 years of digital experience and 14 years of experience directing, managing, and growing multidisciplinary teams. In 2021, I co-founded a digital design and strategy agency called MISC. A bit of background: I joined Code and Theory as Director of User Experience in 2014, and have since worked on a wide variety of projects for clients such as MetLife, Nasdaq, NBC Sports (Rio Olympics), GE, the truth® campaign, the American Bar Association, Burger King, and The New York State Senate. In 2013, I was doing a lot of contract work. I worked with an elite team at Global Moxie/Big Medium on a responsive site for Entertainment Weekly. Later that Summer, I teamed up with Tribal Worldwide on a multi-platform retail location-finder project for one of their bigger clients. (There was also a lot of consulting with startups and small businesses that you won't see here.)My previous staff position was with Huffington Post, where I was its Interaction Design & Content Strategy Lead – the first UX leadership role at the company. At HuffPost, I helped refine the core product and launch new innovations during an election cycle and amidst a period of constant international expansion. From mid-2008 to mid-2011, I was independent, often contracting with Behavior Design. During this time, I worked with a variety of clients, from startups to Fortune 100 companies, to improve existing UIs and strategies or design new ones. I've been been a practicing information architect, interaction designer, and content strategist since 2006, and have been doing editorial strategy and copywriting for the web since 2003.Prior to my UX career, I was, in reverse chronological order, a wireless broadband (WiMAX) entrepreneur (we had 4G deployed in Detroit back in 2004), music journalist, legal assistant, waiter, waiter, waiter, cook, baker, barista (again), pretzel shop manager, barista (first time), breakfast bar technician, and host/cashier. These experiences humbled me and continue to inform my work.
