Working at Gus Bock's Ace Hardware I am responsible for helping customers with whatever they need. My job requires me to listen to the customers in order that I may find the solution to whatever problem they have. This is not enough though as I then need to explain to the customer why I am recommending a particular product to them, and the step by step guide to use the products themselves when they go home. I have to make sure that I am communicating to them in a way that they coherently understand. I am also in charge of training new employees in the store as well. This requires me to work with them one on one in order to make sure they understand how to accomplish frequent tasks that are prevalent at work. This task for me requires patience and awareness that people learn in different ways and different speeds.Gus Bock's Ace Hardware has also helped me to take personally responsibility for my actions. In addition, Ace Hardware has taught me to foster good working relationships with customers who come into the store, and the value of treating customers with the respect and dignity that people deserve.

As a tutor for the AVID program at Waukesha South High School, I was in charge of facilitating a meeting online meeting with five to six students at a time. During these meetings, I forced the students to take charge of their learning by stating problems that they had with their homework, and require the group of students to work together to solve the problem, building team work and leadership skills in the process. I would only interject when they couldn’t solve the problem on their own, and even then I would make sure that I explained each step I was taking in order to solve the problem and why.
