I have successfully completed my BS in Chemistry at Keene State College, which has provided me with essential skills in instrument operation and maintenance, as well as chemical safety, and laboratory protocol to mention a few. My Independent research project started in summer 2012 and is a long term project with a goal in developing an accurate and precise reproducible method for quantitative determination of cortisol levels in horse saliva via capillary electrophoresis. This project has outreached CE in an effort to improve sensitivity and selectivity for the analyte. I volunteer as a certified sate of NH firefighter level1, and a nationally licensed EMT-B as a member of Sullivan Fire Rescue. My experience with the fire service has molded my morals, and provided me with essential life saving skills to better serve the community. Ultimately my goals are to work as a chemist, and be able to use my skills to better serve my community as well. Currently I am employed in a polymer lab where I formulate and test polyurethane coatings as well as adhesives. I enjoy my work and am passionate about what I do, always striving to do the best possible job I can. Being able to work with other chemists has given me the opportunity to learn a great deal from colleagues with real world experience. Successfully modifying current products and working with production to scale up laboratory ideas has provided me with a sense of accomplishment. I am constantly searching for ideas to improve our products, or find a market that might benefit from our materials. This interest has helped me make the decision to pursue my Master's degree in Polymer Science to become a greater asset to my company and community.
