For more than 30 years I have worked in Behavioral Health (BH) as both a clinician and administrator, diagnosing conditions and problems, devising innovative solutions, and leading teams and organizations, large and small, to reach the best treatment and business outcomes.Having moved into administration from the clinical side, I possess both the subject-matter and administrative expertise necessary to not only develop an effective strategic vision, but to create the initiatives to carry it out. This included improving quality and managing the risks, while increasing volume and profitability. As a Senior BH leader for the Sutter Health System, I took great pride in comprehensively integrating a service line across many different hospitals and service locations in both rural and urban settings. Under my direction we created a state-of-the-art central coordination structure for patient assessment and triage. I led diverse, geographically dispersed performance improvement teams to increase operational efficiency and proliferate best practices. At American Addiction Centers I completed a successful turnaround of a large Addiction Treatment care system, including a 93-bed hospital and full continuum of Detox and Recovery services for S.U.D. and Dual patients. Under my leadership major regulatory issues were resolved (present when I started), built a new leadership team and medical staff, developed a 'service excellence' culture, doubled admissions, and created robust earnings trends. This treatment center is now listed by Newsweek as among the best of its kind for the last 4 years.While at Signature HC I supervised a region of BH hospitals from Boston to California. I was successful in opening 2 new large hospitals servicing all age groups and with diverse specialties such as eating disorders and autism. During my tenure with HCA, I built BH regional coordination from the ground-up, and gathered key medical center & BH executives together to develop a consensus on a new BH strategic vision. I established a new central patient access center including telemedicine to deliver timely BH expertise to emergency rooms - resulting in expeditious diagnoses and placements. With a focus on growth I doubled inpatient admissions and more than quadrupled outpatient service locations. I am a troubleshooter by nature and thrive on pressure when challenged with complex problems.
