About Robert Hempstead
I retired in Sept 2016 after a long career working on thin film sensor design, thin film deposition and etching process development, equipment development for thin film deposition and etching, and tribology. This experience was primarily related to heads and media for hard disk drives. Since then, I have been working as a self employed independent consultant. Being in good health, I miss the intellectual challenge of working. I am interested in full time, part time or consulting work in the areas of: thin film sensor design and testing; thin film deposition and etching process development and equipment engineering; thin film metrology and characterization; and tribology testing of thin films.
