Currently, managing an engineering team focused on a multi-cloud (AWS, Azure), distributed data transformation service that performs custom ETL via API. The service provides an interface to define distinct transformations (Operations) which can be chained together into workflows (Procedures). The mission of this service provides a common place for the discovery of existing data transformations that can be used off the shelf and to provide a hosting platform for users to define new transformations so that they can be added to the catalog for others to use. The API sits in front of an asynchronous backend built on AWS SWF and ECS as well as Azure AKS (Kubernetes).

Led an engineering team in the development of a unified query service that provides the ability to query large datasets across multiple data warehouses. This product utilizes AWS Step Functions, Lambda, and ECS, among other services to perform data validation before ingesting content into Snowflake. The development of this service was the precursor for a larger Data Mesh initiative. This service was defined entirely with infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform.

Worked on the Spatial Services team to build a variety of different data products. A few examples include designing and building a multi-resolution, elevation tile service (XYZ schema) that utilizes an ingestion pipeline to continually take in new data, standardize it to the service spec and then add that content to the service. I also led the effort for solving data search-related problems using Elasticsearch (GeoJSON).

Two primary focuses were automated workflow/load testing and leading successful customer integrations with our cloud services for data storage and processing. Utilized Postman and the Python standard library pytest for standardized testing.

As a data processor, I implemented a workflow of understanding, describing, and publishing a variety of proprietary and public domain data sets on the web for preview and purchase. Through the use of scripting and APIs, I wrangled large and complex data sets into products for downloading as well as multi-scale maps for visual orientation.

Designed bathymetric maps of three lake areas for Atlas of Oregon Lakes. These maps include lake contours and surrounding basin features including roads, trails, recreational sites and land ownership information. These were prototypes for what was to be published on the Atlas of Oregon Lakes website.

Researched, designed and produced physical and political maps of the Pacific Northwest published in Spring 2011 in Nature of the Northwest by Katrine Barber, Ph.D. and William G. Robbins, Ph.D. The physical map includes mountain ranges, rivers, and selected dam locations. The political map depicts cities, interstate highways, and Indian reservations.
