Created Azure migration guidelines. This includes database migration, PaaS vs IaaS target selection, source control, and DevOps integration. Migrated and standardized SQL Server data marts to a Databricks’ Delta Lake warehouse. Ingested data from multiple sources and processed data through the Bronze, Silver, and Gold layer standard. Azure Synapse was used to server data to Power BI for reporting. This minimized costs of compute and storage, moved business logic to a central location, and created a single semantic layer for reporting consistency.Provided a Proof of Concept to move IoT data to Azure. Azure Copy, Databricks, and Data Factory will replace FTP and the on-premise python codebase. This will allow the client to continue to grow their client base and move toward near real-time analytics.Migrated an Oracle 12c Data Warehouse to SQL Server 2017. The migration included converting schema, data, and ETL. SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) was used to automate as much as possible. Advanced functionality that was beyond the scope of SSMA was manually converted. Developed a Marketing database for a financial services company. The database merges Salesforce, credit bureau, Dun and Bradstreet, and digital marking data to allow the marketing department to build better campaign models as well as the evaluate the efficacy of them. The database uses Azure SQL Database and supporting Azure technologies.Worked with several clients on establishing a new Power BI environment. This included development best practices, data modeling, row level security, and dashboard creation. Multiple data sources were combined with row level security to provide internal and external users access to only their data. External users were given access through a Power BI Embedded application.

Developed a new data warehouse using Agile BI methods in SQL Server Azure. Requirements were gathered from business leaders and the solution was designed to meet current reporting needs and support Self Service BI. The warehouse supports international clients of CRM with additional data from JD Edwards and custom sources. Dashboards and Self Service BI will utilize PowerBI with supporting detail in SSRS reports.The Database Architect for a new mid-market internet tax application. The application is a SaaS interface to their core in-house product. The solution was developed to help businesses comply with new internet sales tax laws. SQL Server 2012 drives the SMB solution. As the Architect, I provided database design, ETL, and performance tuning for the .Net front end and the batch processes.Developed Daily Profit Statement in SQL Server 2012 SSIS and SSAS for a new Financial Data Warehouse. Also enhanced Profit Reporting dashboards and reports due to merger. The dashboards were developed in SQL Server 2008 R2 SSIS, SSAS and SSRS. Converted Informatica to SSIS (2008 R2) ETL for General Ledger and Journal Entry processing. This streamlined the process and reduced the number of people needed for support. Sources included flat files, XML, SQL Server and Oracle databases to load an Oracle database.Implemented a new MicroStrategy dashboard and reporting application including mobile dashboards for a medical claims management company. The new dashboards provided supporting data to manage performance of providers more effectively. Installed and setup MicroStrategy 9.2.1. Worked with different departments to establish KPIs and scorecards. Data sources include multiple SQL Server database and SSAS Cubes.Lead ETL developer for a new data warehouse at an international rental company. Established SSIS standards and templates assisted in schema design and developed ETL with interfaces to SQL Server and Oracle data sources.

Senior Consultant (through RCG Information Technology, Conshohocken, PA, 04/01-10/06)As the Data Warehouse lead, responsible for specification and programming of the ETL to load the warehouse and report development, supporting over 800 global customers. Completed development project in April 2007 that was a complete rewrite and expansion of the warehouse, inclusive of moving architecture to SQL Server 2005, developing the ETL in Integration Services (SSIS), and switching the business intelligence tool from MicroStrategy to Cognos.While maintaining the Servicing Warehouse, Asset Management and Financial warehouses are now in development. Responsibilities have expanded to the support and development of three data warehouses.Served as the Database Team Leader on a multi-million dollar conversion from client server to web-based loan application. Designed database enhancements, created Java front end interfaces, and converted data so the bank could continue to offer new and improved services to its clients.

Created complete backup environment for disaster recovery, allowing bank to reduce its cutover time from over four hours to one-half hour and to maintain data integrity to within a few minutes of the disaster. Spearheaded batch process restructuring project which greatly reduced manual process intervention. By cutting the batch completion time from over 3 hours to under 1.5 hours. Increased client’s business productivity sharply by eliminating their morning wait for system availability and enabled the client to postpone a hardware upgrade for two years.Established standards and procedures to meet CMM Level II certification. Responsible for production updates, third party software testing and implementation, authority procedures, and enforcement.

Managed development teams for the middle ticket leasing group and sales force automation implementation. Nominated for Manager of the Year by completing middle ticket group enhancement project on time and 25% under budget by partnering with the business through a steering committee and project sponsors for each project phase. Implemented sales force automation package on an AS/400 and PC environment through package installation, database enhancement, AS/400 to PC integration, and backend reporting. Selected by the Auditor to represent IT department on the Invoice Re-engineering Task Force. Updated development standards and procedures, developed service level agreements, and implemented development productivity tools.

Reengineered systems for new management structure across 42 states. Implemented new change management system. Migrated S/36 applications to native AS/400. Wrote test plans for remote timesheet entry. Developed executive information system using Cognos’ PowerPlay. Developed and instructed a ten part MIS internal education series and introduced and supervised intern program.

Project Manager for AS/400 database conversion. Created project plans, established development environment, managed technical issues and change management standards, and tested procedures. Instructor for the 1990 technical development training class, training in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and programming standards. Participated in a comprehensive internal training program covering structured design, COBOL, MVS/JCL, CICS, DB2, ADABAS, Telon, IBM utilities, access methods, data base concepts, testing and debugging skills, and professional skills.
