Robert is a freelance writer, film historian, photographer and illustrator, archivist, actor and presenter with experience on film production, websites, and teaching in adult education and non-academic environments.He currently works as a freelance film archive consultant, broadcaster and tour guide. He is researching a PhD on the early history of Hammer Films and distribution arm Exclusive - currently on hold.He has an extensive background in private, public and university libraries; university and adult education outreach programmes; archival services and research and has written for a number of books, magazines and websites, and broadcast on radio and TV.In 2010 he started the #SaveBrayStudios campaign, a project that sought to keep the historic Bray Studios near Windsor from being demolished and redeveloped as housing. the campaign attracted much media attention and helped bring together investors and creatives, while stalling the development plans. In 2018, after eight years of campaigning, the studio reopened its doors, with the Elton John biopic Rocketman filmed on Bray's stages.He is owner of Avalard Publishing - an independent book publisher - and is actively looking for new broadcasting / journalism opportunities.In 2015 he set up CinePunked - a group focused on film and education, blurring the lines between academia and popular fandom. They host interactive discussions, podcasts and other material.
