Priority each day is to get all possible outbound orders picked, packed, and processed through Oracle ERP and through our warehouse management system (WMS). The outbound process also includes booking shipments with appropriate carriers, and auditing shipping documents generated by the ERP system before attaching them to each order. After making sure all orders are complete the focus moves to any inbound small parcel or palletized shipments that needed to be received through our WMS or ERP. In addition to these daily responsibilities, there is a monthly physical inventory, as needed uncrating an instrument to place on a table, and re-crating, incremental inventory adjustments, and coordinating with a member of the marketing team in cleaning out and restocking crates with supplies that they would need to take to the next trade show. In this role I was able to find ways to make the shipping process more efficient without sacrificing company standards. I led the task of integrating our inventory system with UPS to make the time to process orders reduced by at least 50%. With consultation from our shipping supply source, I was able to increase our packing time efficiency by a factor of 3. This included an added benefit of having more multi-use boxes to decrease our overall sku totals. Both of these improvements combined saved the company hundreds of dollars a week in labor time. With the new standards I developed and implemented standard operating procedure models for how to process orders, and how to correctly package product for shipping across the department for anyone to execute easily.
