    I coordinated the translation, geolocation and categorization of emergency text messages sent in Haiti in the wake of January 12, 2010 earthquake. This was the first step in the only emergency response service available to people within Haiti during this critical period. Working with about 2000 Kreyol and French-speaking volunteers that I managed through social media, we translated and mapped over 80,000 messages in real-time. This was the first time that crowdsourcing has been used for humanitarian response in this manner. To date, it is still by far the largest.
