He also provided specifications (and prototyping) for extraction of contract related information from LIFE/400 into appropriate information to be utilised by Lifewise. Considerable effort was involved with data manipulation for presentation in an entirely new data model courtesy of Dutch tax legislation.

This phase lasted 2 months. He was responsible for providing assistance to the senior team members, as well as the application knowledge specific to the Australian Base version of LIFE/400, in the production of proposed solutions to business requirements. This was an intensive period, where between the hours of 9-2, 4-6 was spent with members of the Senior User Group, and the proposed solutions were developed outside of these hours. During this period all business aspects of LIFE/400 were covered.This project involved taking the Australian Regional Base Version of LIFE/400 and customising it for Royal and Sun Alliance New Zealand. Rob was responsible for technical specifications, supervision of developers, reviewing work (technical specifications/coding/testing), and providing business/application technical assistance as and when required. He was also responsible for the implementation of Work Units (a feature introduced in SMART v9503) and the introduction of coding standards and walkthrough procedures.As the programmers had no prior SMART exposure (2 came from an RPG background, others came from a mainframe background), technical specifications were commonly done to the pseudo code, or actual code level. Specifications written covered areas of New Business (First Billing Date, Transfer on), Billing (Overdue processing, Direct Debit Adjustments, Direct Debit Tapes, Bank Account Validation, Premium Increase Rules), Premium Calculations (Premium Discounting, Interpolation of waiting period ranges), Underwriting (Special Terms Exclusion Code), and Client Processing (Corporate Client Lending Institution, Client Input Data, Client Source Information).
