I designed/patented a completely drummer controlled, crash cymbal activated stage lighting system -1st generation (par,halogen incandescent,etc), and 2nd generation (RGBW DMX), for accent lighting around the kit, full band or concert lighting. 4 channel RGBW/4 color DMX compatible with all LED intelligent lighting from small pars to a MULTITUDE (32) of concert fixtures.
Drums play and support the beat of the music, even a sound activated lighting system will comp that. A cymbal crash is a musical expression exemplifying a tonal and emotional feel of a musical composition. Paying close attention at concerts, it is the goal of a Front of House Lighting Designer (LD) to 'bump' their light show perfectly with those musical expressions.
Now any drummer and band without an LD or on a budget can have an 'on cue' choreographed concert style light show at a fraction of the cost!
