A seasoned industry veteran with over 25 years of commercial real estate experience, Kost works with Upland on business development and brokerage in all areas of commercial real estate – retail, office, medical, hospitality, land, and development sourcing. After 12 years marketing the commercial property portfolio for Sherman Associates, Inc., Kost transitioned from Vice President at Sherman to Director of Commercial Services in Upland’s brokerage division. Kost is well-respected in the field with deep experience in the leasing, sales and property management of most property types throughout the Twin Cities and Midwest. Throughout his career, Kost has leased or sold more than 5 million square feet of commercial space.

Was responsible for commercial leasing and sales within the portfolio. Conducted showings, oversaw all general marketing and created web awareness of all properties. Worked with commercial property managers in developing expense budgets and maintenance programs. Also negotiated contracts with outsourced leasing and sales brokers. Searched for new opportunities for acquisition, development or redevelopment in all product type. This activity included historic, tax credit, apartments, land, commercial, and hotels.Was a strong representative for Sherman Associates over the years through activity in most of the trade organizations. Has also been a presenter to many groups. Rob was a sought-after speaker regarding the development/lease-up process and the historic tax credit/affordable tax credit process. He has been a presenter at MNCAR, BOMA and the University of St. Thomas Graduate Level Real Estate Program.

Served on the Board of Directors as Secretary/Treasurer. Served as President in 2014.

Worked as a senior leasing and sales agent out of the St. Paul, Minnesota office of United Properties (became Cushman & Wakefield). The projects and clients were located primarily on the east side of the Minneapolis-St. Paul market area. Helped increase the size of the east side third party leasing and management client base by several times over about 10 years. Worked with many family-owned accounts/clients along with corporate accounts/clients.

Helped develop management, leasing and receivership contracts with outside owners. Also was in charge of several leasing projects within the company portfolio. Was a minority owner of 4 Frauenshuh-owned buildings, Worked primarily on the east side of the Twin Cities, and helped develop an electronic lease management system.

First job in commercial real estate. The company's partner ownership was based in Chicago. Was assigned immediately to two office buildings in downtown St. Paul, MN. Was responsible for management and leasing. Was a self starter and quick learner. Immediately developed good relationships with tenants and vendors. Have continued some of those relationships for 25 plus years. The company was eventually bought out by the local ownership partner and the name was changed to Frauenshuh Companies.
