Safety Consultant (Emergency Management)
CurrentEffectively communicate both verbally and in writing information pertaining to OSJIA Standards, Joint Commission standards, NFPA, Building codes, NCDENR rules and regulations, and NCDOT rules and regulations so that DOC departments and operations have an awareness to operate safely and within legal standards free of violations and fines. Conduct comprehensive safety/environmental audits of departments and programs in the Central Prison Hospital Complex, monitor safety conditions, equipment and procedures and maintain regular ongoing safety inspections. Analyze inspection results and write accurate reports of comprehensive safety audits. Develop recommendations for corrective actions in accordance with applicable standards. Develop and conduct regular safety related training programs that meet appropriate regulatory requirements. Conduct and maintain documentation of fire protection and utilities management Joint Commission Environment of Care subcommittee meetings; provides technical expertise and recommendations for the development and implementation of DOC safety policies and procedures by serving on safety policy development sub-committees, and managing implementation of safety related pilot projects. Provide accurate and up to date interpretations of safety policies, procedures and standards, and develop action plans to resolve facility problems. Work effectively to ensure that code and operating violations are kept to a minimum and fines are eliminated.
