United States Army veteran of 4 years and 10 months. I served as a medic and left as the rank of Sergeant (E5.) I was stationed in the United States, South Korea, and Kuwait. I graduated as a peer graduate from the Expeditionary Combat Medic course and I graduated as the distinguished honor graduate from the 8th Army Wightman NCO Academy. I developed and led soldiers, worked with foreign military and healthcare professionals, helped create and instruct medical courses, managed a brigade aid station, and provided frontline medical care in South Korea during the initial COVID-19 outbreak.I graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.89 GPA) from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. I was involved in laboratory research for 2 years, I worked as an organic chemistry II tutor for 1 year, and after graduating I did a 4-month postbaccalaureate research fellowship where I investigated the effects of membrane lipid composition on membrane ion-channels.Outside of the classroom, I enjoy experiencing new and different cultures as well as learning new languages. I speak Spanish, and a small amount of German as well as Russian. Currently, I am learning how to speak Korean.
