Author of 88 DAYS TO KANDAHAR: A CIA DIARY (Simon and Schuster, 2015), Robert Grenier is currently Senior Advisor to Elixir International (USA), providing consulting, advisory, and litigation support services to international businesses. A frequent media commentator and sought-after speaker on business, counter-terrorism, foreign affairs and intelligence topics, he has wide experience in both print and broadcast media, and was for five years a columnist and on-air analyst for Al Jazeera English. As a well-known expert on the Middle East and South Asia, Mr. Grenier has held senior positions in the CIA, the National Intelligence Council, and the Department of State during the course of a 27-year career in the CIA's Clandestine Service. He is perhaps best known for having been the CIA station chief in Islamabad, Pakistan, from where he directed CIA's post-9/11 field operations in southern Afghanistan. He organized the joint CIA/Special Forces teams which, under CIA direction, allied with Afghan militias to drive al-Qa'ida and the Taliban from southern Afghanistan in 2001. After two years as CIA Iraq Mission Manager, coordinating all CIA activities in support of the Iraq war effort, and serving as the CIA representative for all White House policy deliberations on Iraq, he capped his intelligence career as Director of the CIA Counter-Terrorism Center, where he was responsible for all CIA counter-terrorism operations around the globe. Since then, in addition to his writing and television commentary, Mr. Grenier has been a consultant, corporate and philanthropic Board member, and business executive. An accomplished sailor and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations,, he resides in Florida and the Washington DC area.
