With a responsibility of up to 800 servers in 34 locations security, stability and efficiency are key. Controlling resource access, software updates, data backup, disaster recovery, hardware repairs as well as upgrades provided a constant challenge. • As the Manager of Core Systems and Security I directly oversaw and contributed to the Security, expansion and management for 34 international sites. • Developed Sarbanes-Oxley controls (Security and Computer Operations) in advance of corporate audits to minimize risks and defects during the audit. Managed defect remediation. • Budget planning for 750 production servers in 29 locations and corporate IT requirements- Special Projects:* Designed and Managed a $2,000,000 server consolidation and upgrade. This project converted an average of 20 servers to 5 in 29 locations and implemented redundant systems.* Re-engineered multiple procedures allowing the attrition of 2 employee positions without a loss to corporate functionality. Headcount re-engineering resulted in cost savings of $200,000 over the next 12 months.* Design and deploy a system to rebuild remote systems without "remote hands" intervention. Responsibilities include standard server and application maintenance, troubleshooting, site security, user management, software and hardware roll-outs. Projects included a SAN based enterprise backup solution, clustered database on an EMC storage subsystem, automated installation for Solaris and Linux servers and a remote server console system for faster response times.

Stabilizing and standardizing the development, staging and production systems as well as the application server configuration management were the top critical projects while our division existed. System management, updates, backups and Disaster Recovery processes were standard fare as well. Such is the life of the only System Admin in a complex environment of a small company recently purchased by a larger company.
