A valued voice in the field of orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Robert Liljeberg has served as a mentor and guest lecturer for students in the athletic training program at Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. Additionally, he was an adjunct faculty member at the school, and director of its sports medicine program. He has also been a preceptor for the physician assistant program at Wingate University, and the nursing program at the University of North Carolina. Earlier in his career, Dr. Robert Liljeberg was invited to present his research to a number of organizations nationwide, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society, and the Southern Orthopaedic Association. His work has also appeared in Orthopedics. Currently, Dr. Robert Liljeberg serves as an orthopaedic surgeon at Troy Regional Medical Center in Alabama. He joined the facility after nearly 20 years in Hickory, North Carolina, first at Moretz Sportsmedicine and then at Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists. He holds a doctor of medicine from Louisiana State University.Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Robert Liljeberg dedicates time, energy, and resources to a diverse array of philanthropic and civic endeavors. He founded the Hickory Octoberfest 5K and 10K Footrace, and enjoys contributing his services as an orthopaedic specialist to local sports teams.
