About Robert Lois
PhD candidate at the University of Pittsburgh. Currently researching methods to enhance cybersecurity in embedded control/cyber-physical systems. These methods include the use of fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) schemes for end-to-end protection of control system signals and parameters.Previous research includes the development of an artificial intelligence tool that integrated risk assessment, supply chain dynamics, and state estimation techniques. This tool reduced uncertainty surrounding the costs organizations encountered during supply chain and operation and maintenance (O&M) decision-making.I have 4+ years of industry experience in the electrical/nuclear engineering field designing I&C software for advanced nuclear reactors. Applied my knowledge to aid in the design of a number of I&C systems in Westinghouse's AP1000 reactor unit. Began my undergraduate education with Duquesne University on the 3-2 Binary Engineering track - a dual degree program with physics and engineering. The engineering education was given by the University of Pittsburgh. As shown by my profile I chose the electrical engineering discipline with a concentration in power and a strong interest in the generation of nuclear energy. I completed both degrees in December of 2015 with the addition of a Nuclear Engineering Certificate.
Listed skills include Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Physics, and 22 others.

Research Assistant
Engineer - New Plant Distributed Control And Information Systems
Ap1000 Plant Control Systems (Pls) Functional Design Engineer
Responsible for the design and implementation of various AP1000 Non-safety Control System (PLS) architecture software. PLS software is materialized through custom built SQL queries and IEC 61131 languages. Constructed and executed a test software for display object and display interface software that allows reactor operators to control the AP1000 unit.Awarded a Creativity Award for a suggested resolution to the tritium leakage that accumulates throughout the life-cycle of a nuclear power plant.
Electrical Engineer I
Acquired the technical knowledge of Siemens’s Water Cooled III-High Availability Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and provided technical knowledge in a Project Engineering position for specific nuclear sites/projects.Provided commercial grade dedication packages and equivalency evaluations per EPRI NP-5652 for nuclear safety related applications as a Quality Engineer.Wrote and performed the testing procedure for a Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometer to be used to analyze organic materials for environmental qualifications under AREVA R&D.Performed witness testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT) for nuclear power plant customers for Water Cooled III-High Availability Variable Frequency Drive components at the Siemens’s facility.Met and spoke with nuclear power plant customers to determine their needs for safety-related and nonsafety-related items for their nuclear facility. Traveled alone to South Bend, Indiana to ensure customer satisfaction of VFD product was successfully disassembled from the Power Distribution Center (PDC).
