As the first employee and CTO of Q-CTRL, it's my role to build and lead Q-CTRL’s Design, Engineering, and Information Security functions, and to deliver value to customers by ensuring scientific R&D translates to product development. Q-CTRL is Australia's first venture-capital-backed quantum technology startup, focused on accelerating the pathway to quantum advantage by delivering intelligent infrastructure software to correct errors, autonomously stabilise hardware, and build the next trillion-dollar greenfield industry.

Working in stealth mode for an Australian financial services company, I built the first web and mobile applications for a new business concept, a new type of bank, and a genuine alternative to the big four banks - which eventually became known as 86 400 (86400.com.au).

- Instrumental in operationalising PwC’s fledgling Digital Ventures and Open Innovation capabilities by leveraging my previous work and experiences with the largest startup incubator in the Southern Hemisphere- Worked closely with the PwC Partnership to identify senior industry vertical leaders and brand new digital venture opportunities by analysing current customer problems and proposing and developing disruptive digital solutions- Consulted with and mentored the PwC partnership and other senior stakeholders in the language, tools and techniques of digital disruption and innovation in order to help them increase their, and PwC’s, market relevancy- Led geographically dispersed delivery teams consisting of web and mobile application developers, product managers and user interface developers and designers

- Instrumental in the development of Pollenizer’s "Startup Science"​ innovation framework used by both Pollenizer startup businesses and big companies- Worked with many household names to facilitate them through the "Startup Science" process in order to inject startup culture into their corporate DNA, products and services- Established Pollenizer Academy - an education business and new revenue stream that trains staff, individuals and corporate teams in the practical application of Agile and Lean Startup methodologies- Led geographically dispersed delivery teams consisting of web and mobile application developers, product managers, user interface developers and designers, systems administrators and quality assurance testers (16 onshore and 40 offshore)

- Built the newly created User Interface Team from the ground up - establishing the first user interface engineering capability within the business- Introduced and evangelised new technologies and techniques to what was traditionally a Microsoft .Net business, including LAMP, Git, GitHub, PHP, CakePHP, Drupal, WordPress, jQuery, unobtrusive JavaScript, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, Web Accessibility and W3C standards-based web development - resulting in higher levels of quality, efficiency and collaboration and significant cost reductions- Architected and led the ground-up redevelopment of AsiaHotels.com - the first Orbitz Worldwide digital property using a free and open source LAMP technology stack

- Developed and taught the University’s first ever continuing education courses in free and open source web technologies, including Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript, CSS and HTML- Taught courses to University staff who subsequently adopted the material into their degree courses- Achieved course feedback ratings consistently between 90% and 100%

- Architected and led the redevelopment of the Online Marketing Group (OMG) businesses secure advertiser portal - resulting in a more secure and performant user experience- Introduced and evangelised the use of rapid development frameworks - resulting in significant efficiency and collaboration gains- Created comprehensive development standards documentation referenced daily by the Engineering, Product and Design teams

- Developed and delivered thepunch.com.au within a two month timeframe- Developed and delivered 106 community news websites - whereilive.com.au - within a four month timeframe- Developed business processes and APIs to facilitate automated forward/reverse publishing between News Limited print and web properties - resulting in significant efficiency increases and cost savings

- Gave input to and brought the WHATWG HTML and DOM Review Drafts to W3C Recommendations

- Taught students enrolled in the Master of Interactive and Digital Media (MIDM) postgraduate degree the theory and practice of interactive design and development- Provided practical tuition in such applications as Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, After Effects, Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut Pro- Assessments and marking

- Developed Australia’s number one, and the world’s number two, recipe portal - Taste.com.au - resulting in significant revenue for the business- Redeveloped homehound.com.au (version 3.0) - the very first Australian real estate portal to incorporate Google Maps - within a two month timeframe- Redeveloped homehound.com.au (version 2.0) in order to bring an expensive outsourced model (Oracle/Java) under the control of a more reliable and cost-effective in-house maintenance and development model (MySQL/PHP) - resulting in significant efficiency increases and cost savings

- Designed and developed Randwick City Council’s first ever dynamic, database-driven and content-managed Internet, Intranet and Extranet websites- Played a key technology advisory role in Randwick City Council's involvement in the $20M Council's Online project- Developed and delivered Council meetings webcasts and Council facilities virtual tours

- Delivered up-to-the-minute online coverage of the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games- Provided journalistic coverage of various Olympic events and live journalistic coverage of all Olympic cycling events- Worked closely with IBM - official technology partners
