Senior Operations ManagerUnited States Air Force Jun 2016 - Sep 2019Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Florida AreaBeing agile and working with ambiguity is what makes this job special and fun. The environment I’m in does not lend itself to having second thoughts about a decision, but it allows me to make a decision, live with that decision, and own the decision. I’m able to collaborate, make things happen, and help people by acting and not reacting. Every day I get an opportunity to teach the next generation how to deal with internal and external stakeholders across a diversity of disciplines and cultures. As an experienced leader and manager, I leverage my abilities to influence by engaging with senior customer executives on policy, directives and compliance. I communicate and coordinate with 13 mid-level managers on issues related to future training, employment, and career progression for over 1900 military and civilian employees. I function as the bridge between senior executives and mid-level teams and employees new to the military. At the end of day, it’s my job to communicate the service my organization provides is the ideal solution for a military community over 9K strong and local partners on the Emerald Coast. This is a personal passion of mine...for the last 29 years my mantra has been “leave it better than you found it”. I believe I have met this challenge on Hurlburt Field. -
Security ManagerUnited States Air Force Security Forces Feb 2014 - Jun 2016Hurlburt FieldI started out in February 2014 as the security manager for a 235 person organization that specialized in logistics, law enforcement, Investigations, personal and industrial security, and administration. I considered this job as a great opportunity that helped me learn about Special Operations while being able to give back to the organization by instructing procedural changes from my last job. So this was a win/win situation. In January of 2015, I was honored with a 6 month special assignment as a Senior Enlisted Leader (Sr HR director role). This vertical move in leadership gave me an opportunity to work with over 350 employees in 22 nations across Africa while honing my time management and leadership skills. I worked with an amazing command team that worked tirelessly to ensure the success of mission on the African continent. During my 6 months, I was able to travel the continent numerous times and establish some amazing outreach connections, strengthening our role and commitment to the different African communities. I was honored to lead teams of volunteers to upgrade the living conditions of local shelters as well as working with multiple Non-Profit organizations to help raise money for work sites. I regularly gave speeches and lead workshops around the installation (small town). I also provide group leadership sessions for new employees. For the 2014 basic leadership course, I was a speaker for 8 breakout sessions and was also an Executive Panel Member. -
Security ManagerAir Combat Command Feb 2013 - Feb 2014QatarBeing away from your family for a year is very stressful and not for everyone. However, I used this as an awesome opportunity to meet with some amazing Qataris around Qatar and people from around the military. In the process, I helped create a host nation liaison position with the Qatar Air Force. I developed a recognition program which recognized 16 employees during the year. I dealt with over 900 employees rotating in and out of the country every week. I had an opportunity to see how people adjusted differently with being in a new country and away from their families. Some had a harder time than others adjusting to the change, so in order to help them adjust and cope with their separation, I built the first employee advisory council focusing on quality of life problems. Being able to adjust to their separation revolved around their current quality of life and fixing it would help with the transition. So, after MONTHS working with them on their issues, I was able to fix 27 problems around their work centers and home areas. I have to admit my experience as a leader was truly tested but it gave me a great perspective on how hard it is to be a good leader in a stressful environment for a year and for that I'll always be grateful.

Leveraging my strong communications skills and recently acquired Virginia Fusion Liaison Officer certification, I was placed as the #2 intelligence officer for the Department of Defense (DoD) Behavioral Analysis/Insider Threat exercise, which forwarded 11 recommendations for the DoD review and approval. Antiterrorism Manager435Th Air Base Wing Sep 2003 - Sep 2005Ramstein Air Base, GermanyThe two main requirements for this position was 1.) Be a visionary and 2.) Be a self-starter. I was appointed as the senior force protection analyst over four installations (communities). I served as the physical security review authority for new construction and renovation projects and plans, it was my job to ensure force protection requirements were met. In addition, I organized and facilitated all working groups and executive committee meetings for the Headquarters. Additionally, I led an action team that was chartered to develop a system, process, or program to cut down response time for the roaming patrols. What we came up with was an automated vehicle plate recognition and ground base radar system. This system was tied into the dispatch center which allow the dispatcher to notify the patrols and keep track of the unauthorized vehicle or person. As a self-starter, I led a vulnerability survey teams that identified and mitigated risk while balancing tradeoffs in cost, efficiencies and operational challenges. I successful advocated for $16.4M in design funds, which was used to protect over 500 personnel.
