Chief Master Sergeant Robert L. Zackery III is the Command Chief of the47th Flying Training Wing, Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. In this role, headvises the commander on the mission effectiveness, combat readiness, professionaldevelopment, and utilization, of 2,600 total force personnel engaged in producing United StatesAir Force and allied nation pilots. Chief Zackery provides leadership anddirection and is the functional manager for the wing’s groupsuperintendents and first sergeants. He oversees the deliberatedevelopment and deployments of the wing’s Airmen, enabling the wing’s specializedundergraduate pilot training mission.

Chief Master Sergeant Robert L. Zackery III is the Superintendent, 71st Operations Group, Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma. As Superintendent he is the primary advisor to the group commander and seven squadron commanders regarding welfare, readiness, proper utilization and progress of 140 enlisted Airmen, 861 officers, and 125 civilians while delivering key leadership and oversight of Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT). He provides unique operational leadership and perspective in the management of active duty and reserve members, 206 training aircraft, $1.95M annual budget, the utilization of 72,000 flying hours and 52,000 annual sorties at the fourth busiest airfield in the Air Force. Chief Zackery also leads the pilot training enlisted mentorship program for over 600 student pilots.

Chief Master Sergeant Robert L. Zackery III serves as Squadron Superintendent for the 25th Air Support Operations Squadron, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii. He is a special staff member for the Commanding General, US Army’s 25th Infantry Division and senior Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) who advises and controls close air support for the division’s 13,000 soldiers. He provides leadership, plans, organizes and ensures the combat readiness of 144 military personnel from 27 different AFSCs and equipment valued at $50M.
