It Systems Supervisor
CurrentAs part of managing the IT team at TORLYS, I can work on building and maintaining the relationships with our partners across the company. With more visibility, I am able to support my direct reports and empower them to deliver on expectations, and encourage them to grow and develop further on their own career paths. Those efforts have led to becoming a leader of the TORLYS mentorship program that is made available to all new interns during their work term. I provide mentoring services and help other junior and senior managers with their own mentees. Many of my responsibilities revolve around planning our technological direction yearly and beyond, as well as ensuring our budget meets both the needs of the company in a manner that is strategic and wisely invested. This touches on the relational efforts I mentioned previously as it is important to understand the individual departments directions and goals. The technical aspects of my work still exist, but in a more strategic sense. As the day-to-day support and administration of our infrastructure now lives with my reports, having discussions with our vendors and communicating important projects ensures they are costed and planned with enough time to account for unforeseen challenges.Lastly, but most importantly, managing my reports needs and requirements to be most effective is a challenge that I enjoy. Working in Tech, one of my favorite thing is to interact with people and help them to succeed. In that effort, our one on one chats, weekly team meetings, and larger discussions concerning goal setting and career ambitions are things I look forward to.
